Give Northeast Classic Auto Insurance a call, 203-261-8474

Also try:

Classic Automobile Insurance 800-397-0765

Also try:

Parrish Insurance 800-274-1804

All three quoted me nice rates here in CT.
Good Luck.

Any updates?? Has any Collector Car insurance companies allowed Cobra's titled as a 2004 to be insured in Massachussets? I currently have Commerce and paying dearly for it, I do have Hagerty on another vehicle but they will not insure the Cobra either.

I just went to my insurance agent and added the car to my existing policy with Hanover - The car is titled as a 2006 Replica Roadster.

Default Commerce Insurance

I put mine on our regular Commerce Policy with an agreed value. They would like to have an appraisal of the car every year but I work for an agency so the fee on that was waved.I even get a discount for limited mileage.
It is titled as a 1965. So my excise tax is low.
The appraiser is also the adjuster for claims he assured me that if damaged the car would be restored to its present condition even without the agreed value which I dropped this year.

The MA.gov quote system, but do not know if it applies to replicas/kit cars:

" You will be asked 6 basic questions in order to gather facts that all insurers consider when calculating automobile insurance rates. The tool will use this information to produce a list of sample premiums from each company. "

Warren,
Thank You!! that is very useful information.I had the same responses from Insurance Companies as well and ended up for the past 4 years paying on Stated Value for a 2004 Model year @ around $1,100 a year for a car that sits in a garage 355 days of the year. I will call Collector Car Insurance tomorrow to see if i can switch it over

You are welcome. I just paid my insurance bill for the Cobra and my 1970 Olds 442. The total for both cars is only $538

Hell, the insurance on my daily driver (97 Merc Marquis) is more than both my collector cars!

Sal, you owe me a ride in your Cobra. Where do you live. I'm just south of Boston in Quincy.

Hey Warren,
Well i talked to Collector Car Insurance today, No luck
I was told the car needs to be 25 years old and Registered as a "66" Cobra My registration reads "2004 Replicar 427SC Coupe" So im back to square one i guess. Is it that im speaking with the wrong people @ Collector Car or the way my Registration reads is the issue? What is your Superformance registered as model year? I think thats the big question

Thanks
Sal

It is registered as a 1965 Ford Cobra. It originally was titled in Louisiana before it came to MA. I bought it used from the original owner who already had it titled here in MA based on the Louisiana title.

Sorry, but get back on the phone. You might want to post the same question over on the Northeast section of the FFR Forum.

If the person you talked to was a MA underwriter, I guess the 25 year old stuff is true. I did not know that was a problem with American Collector Car Insurance.

Good Luck Sal.

Thanks Warren / Don,
Its not that i cant get Insurance or Registration its just the Cost of it,Being i took delivery of the car as a New turnkey from ERA the car was never Titled in Mass as a "66" I went through the whole process from the start as Mass required and needed to Title and Register it as a 2004 , the only real drawback is getting Collector car insurance and reaping the huge savings otherwise no problems, i have an exempt form from the State to show the car is only a Recreational Vehicle driven under 2500 a year so it relieves me of Emissions and such. Oh Well looks like i need to keep it with Commerce and Pay the Man,hey if i leave it in the garage and dont drive it that will save me $$$$ in fuel right?

Sal

If you have not called at least 20 different insurance companies, you have not spent enough time looking. $1100 a year is way too much.

With the recent change in insurance laws in MA, some companies that previously were not doing business in MA are now doing so.

Here are some tel #'s
