I've always been a sucker for black cars. I've had many over the years. However, my SPF is Indigo Blue w/Titanium stripes. The car is a real show stopper on the street. If and when I get into another 427 S/C I will more than likely opt for Black with Titanium or Red stripes with black interior and red piping around the seat edges and red side pockets. NICE.

I appreciate all the replys,,and ERA 626,,sorry if you got offended, but I was asking about resale,I still like red,no stripes for my keeper car,I want meatballs, tarnished wheels, vintage decals, and maybe a tire mark or two !!
I agree with you Terry about the titanium ,,I thought of that, and plain blk is gorgeous,,I can do with out the stripes, but I am thinking the average Joe expects his cobra to have them,,
oh well,,I gotta decide,,how about 67 ford alcupaco blue with wimbleton white stripes ?I love that on the mustangs,,,Tim
another thing is,,what if I HAVE to keep both cars,,haha

I would say red is what more people look for when they are looking for a car.
But I would get what makes you happy. Don't worry about resale.
BTW I agree the cars look best in a solid paint scheme.

Tim: Hey, if you end up having to keep BOTH cars, at least you will have one with stripes and one without.......best of both worlds!
I'd go around to some car dealers if I were you, and look for a nice blue color and throw some white stripes on it. Wimbledon White is nice on the right car (I especially like them on SPF's dark Green - Malachite, that they use), but I don't think it's as popular (for resale) as regular white. Then again, if you want the car to stand out a little bit......that might be the way to go!
Good luck! ......It would be a shame if you had to keep them both!

No contest
I chose this color after seeing a picture of a similar combo SPF at DVSF I. I get tons of compliments even though the color is pretty far off original. The pleasant surprise was that when parked among many other Cobras, this color combo attracts more females by far than any other. No kidding, you'd be amazed. Hey, I have to do something to compensate for these small feet.

Blue seems, by far, the most common color.. However, it's hard to find two blues that are the same... So many different shades..
I bought mine painted... Denim Blue, silver stripe, red rookie stripes... Add a few stars and I could pass as a flag...
If and when it's due for painting,,, it's gonna be blue again...
Viking Blue...
Actually, I haven't seen a color on a Cobra that I didn't like...
for a 427 model..... Titanium with or without stripes... Truly a classy looking car....

Tbuttrick: That's a great photo.......what kind of camera did you use???? -Sorry.....I don't mean to hijack this thread.
misfit: .....I'm still leaning towards blue / white (or) Titanium / black.
Casaleene is right.....it's hard to make a Cobra look bad, no matter what color you go with (there ARE exceptions, of course!). It's not the color that makes the car look good......it's the CAR that makes the color look good! The body lines of the Cobra, can make almost ANY color combo looks great!

this is much harder than I thought,,and I am excited about all the help and ideas,
It would be so cool to keep both cars,,my pipe dream is one red racer, bad ass with white open side pipes dual quads and radical, the other an uptown car, blue with stripes, hard top ,heater, maybe a c6 with a stall and my other 427,but even though my cars are paid for,I have other things that arent, with the state of the economy I am not sure I can chance that.
I even thought about selling off anough guns to cover the csx car,or maybe a bike or two,but I find it hard to turn loose of toys to get another,it feels like going backward to me.
I guess it is something I have to decide, but I have lots ofideas
regardlesswill be a period color.
This is the way I see it,strictly from a resale std point, already assuming an fe,toploader and correct appearence.
1 ,blue with white stripes,2 red with white stripes,3 solid red,4 silver/titanium with or without stripes,5 black,,Hell,,I love em all,,Tim
I am ot so bad a speller,,but fpr psmereason the post wont take all my letters

i know this was about re-sale, but i happen to think my red/white stripe car is very visible in traffic, in a rear view mirror it really catches the eye, with the contrast. I know we drivers want to think our cars stand out in traffic, but there are lot of drivers out there who don't notice anything out around them, even one of our cars. A solid color car can really blend in, being so small. High visibility makes our cars a lot safer, i think, and cars with contrasting stripes are more so.
That said, i love my color, but i have seen just about all the SPF colors, and if i have to replace my car, i think i would go with plain silver, no stripe. Not the titanium, which seems to have a darker "dust" to it, but the SPF silver.
But of course, it would be pretty invisible to the average person sipping coffe in their SUV. If you look back over the past few decades of pics of groups of replicas, like at the R&G, you can see the changes in color preferences.

Certain colors do seem to be "stereotyped" with certain cars. A majority of people think "red" when you say Ferrari or '65 Mustang convertible. More often than not, it happens to be blue/white stripes whenever I mention a cobra.
When I ordered my SPF, the dealer mentioned that approximately 80% of the cars they sold were "blue with white stripes". I was truly amazed how many blue color choices were available.
Well, when it came time to make my decision, I ended up purchasing a custom blue cobra with bright white stripes. The reason???? BECAUSE THAT COLOR COMBO IS WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED!!! Do I have any regrets??? NOPE!!!!!!!
My color choice just happens to be sided with the "majority" of other owners, but I don't frown on any other color combinations out there......pick the color YOU like and go with it. If you plan to buy and sell, then go with the majority....that is just good marketing as your target audience seems to be fond of the blue/white combo. Don't forget to do some research... I hear that the titanium/silver with blue stripes is very popular lately with SPF owners.
Good luck!

I saw BDR #93 a few weeks back when the engine was being installed. The color looked great. I went with black, red rookie stripes and white meatballs and red interior. Since the wife let me get the car, I let her pick the color. She always loved the black '62 vette with white coves and red interior. I have to admit, I think she made a great choice. I hope to have the car in the garage by New years. You can see the car on the BDR website under progress reports Vin# 1462 car #103. The same color configuration is BDR's gallery section.

Misfit,
No offence taken did you see the ?
My first choice was solid black but I was affraid of the scratches & how hard the black is to upkeep so I went with my second choice. Blue & white

Misfit,
Its all about being different to catch a potential buyers eye these days... Whatever you do, don't paint it blue with white stripes or red with white stripes, and especially not Silver - no more Silver!
Root Beer Brown with Camaro double-lined Mustard stripes should do the trick.

Hi all
Just about to paint my car - 4 months or so - booked in at the shop.
Must say I agree with the concept that people have an idea in their heads when you talk Cobra. It is generally blue and white.
I decided on the original' Guardsman Blue' with straight white stripes.
I know it smacks of period car but thats my aim to do a replica '66.
Sorry no photos on my site but some can be found on the:
Australian Club site under - ' Bernie does have a Cobra'.
Have tried to go original as possible and have purchased the static deca;s etc.
Will Post once photos are done.
Cheers
Bernie
