I love the drive to and from work but on the negative side;
1) The hat-hair doo I end up with and
2) Every hour or so being interrupted by someone who comes into the office and wants to "talk with who ever owns the Cobra".

It is my company car and puts me in a lot better mood whenever I drive it to work. It draws lots of attention and my salespeople are glad when the day is over. Too many questions ----is it an original--what engine-- I knew a guy who had one in a barn in the 60's--how much is it? Of course I am available to talk to when they ask , who owns the Cobra. Just wish it was over 23 degrees out today--I'd be driving!

I used to work at the Clinic across the street from the XXX Rootbeer stand. A hotroder hangout Issaquah Washington. The owner would let me park by the entrance and he'd watch the car while I worked. Those were nice morning drives to work. Perhaps the only time I actually enjoyed going to work.

When i picked up my SPF from the docks in Antwerp Belguim i drove the car back to work to show the guys. I was told directly to never bring it again into the office again.

Skippy:

Don't feel lonely as there is no shortage of small people in high places. An automotive stylist friend was told the same thing by his well-known boss when he drove his Mangusta to work . . . a styling studio, no less. The funniest example (and smallest) was when our black janitor was told by the company president not to drive his co-owned red Cadillac Eldorado convert to work ever again. He was one of four owners, so he got to drive the car a week every four weeks and on special occassions, such as funerals and weddings.

As for me, no problemo. My people at the top and bottom would always ask when the weather was especially nice, "You are going to drive the Cobra, aren't you?" Real people.

I didn't spend $xx,xxx for a grage or trailer queen.

It's an absolute ball to drive, and with top sidewindows, heater, can be driven almost year round. No snow, and no salted roads after snowfall.

But this car gets attention wherever it goes. I worked at an airbase and the G.I.s were always asking questions, asking me to open the hood. Finally wrote a spec sheet about the car, and taped to the passenger side sun visor.

Now I work at a hi rise near the Pentagon with secure parking in the basement. Lots of other high end cars down there also. At lunch time, and the end of the day, there 's always a little crowd looking it over. It's a humbling experience.

The only time it's not fun is creepy - creepin along at 0 - 5 MPH.

I am in the Navy and drive it everywhere I can, nothing makes me feel better than to stomp a few riceburners on the way to Wal-Mart. You don't see too many Cobras around here in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area so I give the general population all they can handle. If I had my way I'd drive it every day of the year, but that damn mother nature keeps screwin' it up for a few months.
Live fast, die young and leave a good lookin' corpse I say!

DID ANYONE CHECK TO MAKE SURE OUR INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE NOT MONITORING OUR POSTS??

I SEEM TO RECALL BEING TOLD THAT I COULD NEVER USE MY COBRA FOR DRIVING TO WORK OR OVER 3500 MILES PER YEAR.

WE'LL ALL GET NOTICES IN THE MAIL RAISING OUR PREMIUMS BY THE END OF THE MONTH.

I drive mine all the time. I'm retired and love to flaunt the Cobra around all the Vettes etc. in this area. I have 68,000 miles on the clock, and it's a sweetheart to run. It's an Everett Morrison built car with a 408 windsor built by Reutiman Racing in Zephyrhills Fl., has 430 hp, 5sp,3:73 gears, soft top, hardtop, and windows. I have had a ball with this thing !!

Yep, every chance I get! I live and work on Altus Air Force Base where 18 - 19 year olds go around with M-16s guarding the base. I feel just a little secure that no body will mess with my ride. The best part is parking next to all the Harleys. Couple of weeks ago, had the Wing Commander come into my squadron looking for who owned the Cobra. He was suprised to find out it was an "enlisted guy" not an officer that owned it. Here is the kicker. He said, " Sergerant Austin, is that a real car?" I just smiled and said, "Sir, if you got a couple of minutes to go for a ride you can judge for yourself". He took me up on the offer and about half way around the end of the runway, I pulled over and let him drive it. The base speed limit is 25 MPH. Along the backside of the runway he punched it shifted into third and went WOT. I checked the guage and he lifted at about 90mph. We got back to the squadron and several of my buds were waiting for us to return. He got out, tossed me the keys and wanted info on how to get one. Sent him towards Steve at Lone Star. Hey Steve, Is there a finders fee?????

Loadmaster,
Hey do me a favor and run over to the FlightSafety instructor's office and Kick TR's Feet off the desk!
I am at Dover. Former C-5 Loadmaster turned to the dark side (OTS). I now run Current Ops here.
There are several of my folks down there at "Greater Altucie"
Capt Larry Nance, Maj Rob Corbin (Both C-5 Drivers).
We'll be getting our first 17 in a couple of years.
Do you know Dave Fisher?
Cheers

It is 27 deg right now---slowly warming to 55 deg today and Colorado sunny! Coffee is brewing, down coat is by the door, Cobra has gas and I'm closing the shops down at 3 pm so I can drive home in the daylight. I need my fix! Happy New Year to All!

TODAY! TODAY!

IT'S NOT FAIR!

After a number of rainy, overcast days, today is beautiful and sunny. With light traffic, a perfect day to drive the Cobra to work. I get out to the garage with my fresh cup of Starbucks French Roast and the left rear tire is half flat. I look underneath and there's a big phillips head screw sticking out of the tire. Yep, I've officially been SCREWED!

I hope the rest of you have a much better day than me and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Paul
