Backdraft has gotten very enthusiastic support from the people who have bought them. The cars seem to be an excellent turnkey-minus (complete except for drive train) Cobra. The cars performed very well at the Run 'n Gun competition this year. I haven't heard anything negative about the cars or the company on this forum that I can recall. Some Cobra traditionalists question the use of the BMW suspension and rear end as far as holding up to high horsepower engines, but they seem to be doing well in that regard so far. I'm sure the owners will be jumping on your question shortly.

I will start by saying I have a Superformance Cobra and love it.
Now, having said that, I had a recent experience at the Reptile Roundup II where my car would not start for the track sessions on Friday. Everyone around was very helpful to try to rectify the problem, but the ones that stand out most were the guys from Backdraft. I had at least 2 or 3 helping try to find the problem, changing coils, main MSD box, you name it. This went on for most of the day until Dennis Olhoft informed us that the problem was a common one in the MSD distributor, which he ulitmately replaced for me at his shop.
My point here is that Tony Martin, Reg and his whole crew had nothing to gain from helping me, and especially a SFP car.
Tony even offered me the drivers seat in the Run & Gun Cobra, which I declined (as hard as it was) seeing as how I was not a potential buyer for one of their cars. However, Eng. Ed took him up on the offer and turned in some pretty remarkable times in the car. I can only imagine how well they treat their REAL customers. I know several of them, and all say very good things.
I would like to THANK ALL who were around to try to help in my day of need and despair - But A SPECIAL THANKS TO TONY AND REG, AND ALL THE GUYS at Backdraft.
I would be remiss if I also didn't say a good word about Dennis Olhoft, who took my car back to his shop and replaced the distributor (at no cost - I bought my car from Doug Reed) and also gave the car a complete going over and tighting of any loose fittings, shift lever, valve covers, etc. He only charged me for the alum catch can I requested that he install.
This is just another example, of how I have found the Cobra community to work - it is one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life.
To Dennis and Tony: You guys put on a hell of a "track show" for all of us that will not be forgotten soon.
Thanks to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Happy Holidays to everyone here on CC.

Jackal, I just recieved my backdraft #65 last week and I am in love. Its really a great car in every respect. Fit, finish, handling, the whole package is top notch. I have not seen very many others so I cant compare it to another but I cant see a single component that could be improved on. Mine is a 392 stroker and its a screamer. I had Anthem motors in Phoenix complete mine, After seeing it I could not have done the kind of quality that they did. I will take some good engine bay pics this week and post them, I couldnt be any happier. There are many good replicas out there, Backdraft just seemed to fit what I wanted and I am very pleased with the results.

Ed,
I know Reg and his beautiful wife and child and they are great, as all the Cobra people I have met are. Also the more I see of the BackDraft Racing Cobras the better they seem. Ed I see you live in Florida why don't you run down and see Reg and take a ride in one of their cars.

Hi all,
I first saw the Backdraft car at the Run N Gun and was impressed with the support the crew gave to making sure the Cobra was presented at its best.
The car was mainly in the pit covered area but I had a good opportunity to look at a car that was parked nearby that was their road going car. It looked very impressive..
No doubt Run N Gun reports will cover the outstanding handling and performance of the car. I certainly was impressed with the approach both he crew and the driver took to making sure they were competiitve and at the same time there was time to answer the many questions about the car.
Like most, I was intrigued by the use of the BMW suspension etc..
Cheers
Bernie

Welcome
Ed,
Welcome to the Cobra owners group. The fun is just beginning.
Check out the Deep South Cobra Club under Local Clubs above the banner for things going on in our area. Doc Lopez is down your way and also owns a Backdraft. We are fun loving bunch and would love to have you join in, if you haven't already.
