I will second that Casaleenie. For me the having a CSX number is a 'nice to have'. Cut the chatter with the inevitable 'is it real' question. Slight cool factor. But little more. So if all four of the choices presented here where identical in every way then that alone would sway me. Kirkham tops my list presently.

Look guys, replica schmlika. The fact is the CSX is a Cobra factually and legally. End of storey. Thats all you need to know.
If having a Shelby Cobra is not important to you or the CSX vin # is of no importance to you thats fine. To each his own.
In fact I would prefer that more guys not buy the new CSX and opt for the others. Hey that just means less Shelbys around which makes my car that much more unique (pardon the pun).

Rick - Christmas is a bigger deal here than there, I suspect, mainly, of course, since we don't recognise Thanksgiving!
Otherwise, things are probably much the same, except that you would not stop everything to watch the Queen's Speech on Xmas Day, nor go swimming in the Serpentine (Hyde Park) on Boxing Day. And we get perennial repeats of certain movies every year, things like "633 Squadron", "The Snow Goose", you get the picture. I am not sure what qualifies a film to allow it to be rerun every Christmas, schmaltz probably.
Personally, weather permitting, I try to go for a nice brisk Cobra drive on Boxing Day. Wearing my latest Christmas jumper, of course.

Al,
I have edited my post to exclude those that "could care less wether it said CSX or not."
I will include a disclaimer at the bottom of further posts as to not include partys not necessarily reflecting my particular view at this time.
I personally would trade even for a CSX with the same finish quality as my current car. I would see this as an investment.

What would I buy?
I am really, really happy with my car and would without hesitation do it all over again with ERA. The only thing that would possibly get me out of my ERA FIA would be a Kirkham Hybrid with a SS chassis.
See, I really became hooked on the small block FIA body when I was looking for cars, but I also really wanted a car with coil over suspension. At the time I felt the ERA FIA was the best, most accurate small block bodied car with coil spring suspension, and it is still certainly one of the best (IMHO.)
I have no interest in the Shelby FIA (or even a Kirkham FIA) cars with the transverse leaf spring suspension. I simply want a more refined car, but still want the small block body.
On the topic of CSX numbers, I can honestly say I don't care. I think the creme of the crop is any alloy bodied car (CSX, Kirkham), cause that's how the originals were built. I certainly have no desire for a fiberglass bodied CSX over my fiberglass ERA FIA or a Kirkham Hybrid. If Shelby produced a small block alloy bodied, coil sprung car it might interest me, but I would not pay a penny of premium over a Kirkham car to have a CSX number. So, Evan can add me to the short list of people that do not suffer from CSX envy. Alloy envy, yes. CSX envy, no (that is unless it's an original!)

I'll take the 289FIA Kirkham, or an original CSX2000 or CSX3000 series car that was built in the 60's over anything else (after all, anything else with a CSX # on it is still a replica of the originals built in the 60's).....................

And CSX 3003 was a replica of CSX 3002.
The importance is not whether its a "replica" but the pedigree of the car and its origin.
While the Continuation series are replicas of the orignal series, which by default they must be to be the same, they are different than all the rest in that they are also at the same time genuine Cobras. Factually and legally. Fact.
Some refuse to recognize this simple fact and play the replica angle over and over so as to grind whatever axe they have to grind.
Oh well. Whatever.

Machineman,I think the first step is to make a list of what's important to you in your Cobra.There are subtle nuances to all of the cars mentioned so for,and you can get a lot of car finished out for $60K,including now a Shelby.That's exciting!I chose ERA because I liked the frame design,the optional modular style Jag based rearend and supple coilover suspension(with 6" of travel),and their emphasis on visual and dimensional authenticity. The 20+ year heritage and the people who represent ERA ,where the attitude is "How can we help you",add up to the "pedigree" I was looking for.Resale value is excellent,and it's made in America.My car will not be a racer,but an enjoyable back roads explorer as I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.Enjoy your search,as it can truly be likened to a first sip of a fine wine,with lots of good stuff to follow!

Fellows I really enjoyed opening this can of worms its been good reading.I should have said a complete painted glass roller for 42,500$. I would never expect a turn key new for that amount. But I have seen a flyer for the CXS 4000 for 42,500 msrp roller. It is true they are coming soon as Brent Mills has said. Who wants one come & get um.

So, just how do we get you into a stainless hybrid? Those things really seem to be taking off.
Our first special order for a hybrid stainless car was delivered earlier this month--and the next one has already arrived. It is going to a local guy...one of my employees!
He is a great guy. He widened the rear fenders by 2 inches so he could put more rubber on the road...this is one serious diease.

Pat, does your mirror finish tarnish or get finger printed more or less easily than when it was a brushed finish?

Less easily. It hasn't tarnished at all (that I can notice) so far and any fingerprints wipe off as easily as if it were paint - or glass.

ERA would be my choice.
It doesn't pretend to be anything but an ERA.
I also belive they have been at it longer than anyone. What is it 25-28 years continuous, without a break in production.
Talk about a limited production.
