Default shelby...Just conversation...geezz

Thanks Guys for your responses!! So, what is everyone really saying?? To each his own? It does not matter where a shelby is made, as long as it has the number on it?? So, in other words if a Shelby were made in China, or France, or Iraq, it would not matter??? Looking for some insight here..help me out guys..

Deacon, et al...

I am going to ask that, if you want to pursue your quest for insight... that you start a new thread. This thread was meant to be a news release, containing a factual update from SA on production status.

Thanks

If Saleen built his S-7 in Germany, it would still be a Saleen. If he contracted it built by others and never lifted a wrench himself, he is still the architect, the end product is still a Saleen.

Why is Shelby any different? WHY is that fundamental principle SO hard for you to grasp?

Cool Ok...maybe This Will Work...

Ok here goes guys...and Turk....and Ron...

Do you think this is the right place for me to be now...

I just wanted to know what is acceptable in the eyes of everyone as to where a Cobra can be built? Is China ok? Is France ok? Is Iraq ok? How about Mexico? Always thought Shelbys were American made..I guess that is not a requirement anymore....my bad. Now I am not saying that these South African cars are a bad product or whatever, but is there or is there not a difference between American Made Shelby Cobras and the any others... Give me your thoughts.

I was a bit was confused about when you where talking Shelby where you talking Cobra or all Shelby products.

Facts are that all Shelby products have had everything from bits and pieces to entire rollers made all over the world. Does't matter if the Shelby was based on a Ford, Chrysler, A/C or what. Everyone of those companies use and or manufacture parts all over the world. More so today of course than in the sixties. But especially the Cobras. Early cars being little more than hot rodded A/Cs but by the end being built heavily modified to suit Shelby.

So in answer to your question....... No. The country of manufacture of Shelby products does not matter. This is of course leaving out other agendas.

Who cares about a Saleen?

OK, I'll get my crayons out and draw a picture so you can understand.

You see, this guy named Saleen builds a car and names it after himself. Kind of like TUCKER did, and ROUSH, many others. It's what people do you see, it's fairly common (DUH)!

It doesn't matter WHERE the architect has his car built, or WHERE the car is finished. The builder can name it whatever he wants, and THATS what it is!! In this case it's a Shelby.

Now, how about that new Pontiac GTO, made in Australia? Well, GM owns the name I guess they can call THEIR car name they want.

Oh, but who the hell cares about Pontiac? OK, let me get the crayons out again and draw you a picture...........

Deacon,

I am not sure just what you are really asking but from what I interpet it to mean is you don't think anything built outside the United States can be a legitimate Shelby. If I am wrong in this interpetation I apoligize now. But the fact is, the first Cobra ever built wasn't built in the United States. From The Shelby American Original Archives 1962-1965. "The prototype Cobra was built at AC Cars in Thames Ditton, Surrey, England in January 1962. The prototype was based on chassis number CSX2000. AC mechanics fitted the prototype with a 221 CI. Ford V-8 Engine for testing and evaluation. After some modifications to the chassis, the prototype chassis-with bodywork but less engine and transmission was air freighted on February 2, 1962, to Caroll Shelby in Los Angles." Once it reached here it was taken to Dean Moon's shop where they put a 260CI engine in it and then they started building them there at first. So if you are going by the fact that to be really Shelby cars they have to be built where the first one was, then all of the Cobras built in L.A. don't qualify either as the first one was built in England. As long as his name is on them legally, it makes no difference where they are built, they are Shelby cars.

I don't give a flip where it is made, just how well it is made, and it's value proposition to me as a consumer.

You are on the wrong site all together. When it comes to CS, there isn't such a word as Objective here, you might as well gone to mass and spit on the priest. Some people are religous fanatics, even when religion isn't involved.

It aint got nothing to do "fanatics", it has EVERYTHING to do with IDIOTS who just don't get it!!!

If I build my car I will call it an ERNIE CAR. You got a freakin' problem with that???

Man, questions and statements like you guys make are really starting to PISS ME OFF. Don't give me that crap about
..."just want a little conversation". That is 100% BULL, you just want to start the same old argument again!

I think I'd draw the line at a Chinese built Cobra... There's just something about that combination that turns me off...

However, the Kung Pow chicken is a go.....

Deacon,
Please clarify a few rumors that are circulating. I understand that the chief CAV engineer is no longer employed at CAV and that only 2 cars have actually arrived here. Since the engineer is the only person that can intellectually rectify any production problems, who will be taking his place? Will this effect the customer delivery dates? Plus since the rand has so drastically changed in comparison to the U.S. Dollar and it's costing substantially more to construct, ship and finish the CAV cobras, what effect will that have on the current advertised price?
Is there any truth that the paint booth was recently repossessed?

Thanks.

OK - now I'm getting confused... Everyone is aware of the funny remarks and sarcasm that the Semko brothers are reknowned for, but this sounds like a serious question.

So - who is the Deacon (or what is the Matrix?!?)

Rumors, intrigue and inuendo..... it's killing me!!!
