Cobra Replica ranking
Has there been a ranking of the various Cobra Replica Mfg's?? It seem the "popular" ones here are SPF, Kirkham, ERA, CSX (real or replica, that is another questiion), FFR, Contemporary, Factory Five (FFR), Unique, Midstates, Lone star etc. I have a Shell Valley I bought used a couple of months ago and although it doesn't have an origianl type frame or suspension, it looks nice. Is Shell Valley a poor quality replica? I also have a 1980 vette and the Shell Valley fiberglass body seems ever bit as thick and durable as the vette. I have heard that the FFR body is rather thin to save weight and as a result a bit flimsy. I would like to see a numerical ranking of the various replica cobra, not so much for "Originality" but for overall quality, craftsmanship, original looking appearance/dimensions and value for the dollar. I am sure the average guy would have issu with parting with upwards of $45K for a roller with no drivetrain. Ibought a car to drive, not to sit in a lot to be guaked at.

I don't know where Shell Valley ranks, but, judging by your pics, looks like you've got a helluva nice Cobra. I found an older Shell Valley w/ a 428 for $22K a couple of years ago; wish I could have afforded it then.

No ranking that I am aware of. Cars have been grouped together here before. But there has not been some sort of subjective comparison. Just to many variables.
No pecking order needed. Buy what you like. Be happy.

Z,
Thanks for the compliment on my car. I took a peek at your T-Bird and it looks mint! Reminded me of the 56 Bird my dad had when I was about 7 years old (I'm 37 now so it wasn't too long ago, I don't think). Cobra would look nice next to it!

Ok guys,
I brought a can of worms with me. Anyone want to open it?
Gman,
Use the search function and do your research. Get whatever brand blows your skirt up. Nobody elses "Right Answer" is your "Right Answer".

Everybody being nice. Must be the holidays or something.
To say that there is NO ranking (pecking order) between FFR, SPF,ERA is not 100% truthfull now. Is IT guys?
I too will join in on the Holiday spirit and not list them.
Happy Holidays....
Now for some reason, the Holidays are not up to my expectations, the gifts don't look good....I just might make such a list available Christmas morning. Otherwise it will have to wait until after the 1st.

PECKING ORDER???????
Maybe we can submit pictures of those wanting to be voted on amongst the different MFGs. We can vote on a 10 most favorite from each MFG. Rdorman is right way too many variables.......

That will happen when pigs fly! Especially since he is technically correct.

Ok, the answer to the question is as follows:
1: All CSX2000 & CSX3000 series cars actually built in the 60's
2: Everything else that even remotely resembles those cars built in the 60's.
Next question.

I don't think it is that you said anything wrong. It is just that it is so predicable that it is amusing!

Ok I'll bite:
IF Carroll Shelby did in fact sell the Trademark/name COBRA to FORD for $1.00 then ONLY cars manufactured prior to that sale by Shelby and Cars manufactured since that sale by FORD are Cobras. This would mean that the Mustang Cobra is a Cobra and the current Shelby look alike is not.
With apologies to all the cobras in India, Africa and southeast asia (who are really steamed that someone took their name)
