What Would I Use For A Block Plate?

Lakewood has another bellhousing....one that's not SFI approved, but is made of the same 1/4" thick steel, and is the same shape as their blowproof bellhousing. It says in the description that it is not intended for use with a block plate...If not, then what do you use to cover the flywheel/clutch, and bolt the starter to?

A block plate is a solid piece of metal, usually welded to the frame and the engine is bolted directly to it...at the front of the block. The set-up eliminates all movement of the engine and transfers it to the chassis

What you're referring to I've always heard called "motor plate".

What he's talking about is the plate between the flywheel and block, sandwiched between the block and bellhousing.

My guess would be that this bellhousing depth does not compensate for the block plates thickness.

You'd probably have to fabricate a shield which would mount to the flange at the bottom only to cover the flywheel.
