SPF #747 is heading to California...
...and into my garage! I've been trying hard to keep this mum until the transaction was completely finished. The car was purchased from itsonlymoney (David) in Dallas about 3 weeks ago (I flew out just for the day) and the car is now in an enclosed trailer being pulled by Rich's Classic Transport (a clubcobra sponsor). The car will spend Christmas with Rich and then will make its way to Orange County by January 2-3. Rich has been AWESOME to work with, keeping me posted every step of the way. I haven't even met the guy yet and I highly recommend his services!
First of all, a few words about David. He has been a true gentleman the entire process! I privately approached him and we agreed to meet. He picked me up from/to the airport in Dallas and was a gracious host for the day. David's efforts on #747 have been world class and the car was everything that he (and others here) described. I thought I was fanatical with cars.....geez! David has raised my own highbar, as I am motivated to keep this SPF as fresh as he has.
The car.....SPF #747. Red with white stripes (my "Red Barchetta" - thank you to Neal Peart of Rush fame for the inspiration). RDI 392 stroker pumping out somewhere in the neighborhood of 475 HP at the flywheel. Tremec TKO and 3.73:1 rear cog (who needs 1st gear anyway?!? ). 15" Trigos with silver ceramic coated pipes and chrome quick jacks/roll bar. Way too many upgrades under the hood to list, but the Halon fire suppression system is wonderful and David's attention to detail is evident throughout the entire car. The odometer says this car has 6,500 miles on it.....David has maintained #747 to look like it has 65.
Words can't describe how thrilled I am to be a part of the Cobra owners community! You folks have educated me along this path and I'm 100% certain that I've made an excellent choice in SPF #747. Hopefully over time I can be more of a contributor here and return the favors!
Best regards,
Dean

I can attest to the absolute beauty of this car. You are one lucky buyer. I'm sure David was sad to see it go. Best of luck with your new purchase and welcome to the Cobra owners group. Your excitement is just beginning.

Jim, thanks! It's testimonials like yours that convinced me to buy a plane ticket and see it for myself. Money well spent, IMHO. I am truly blessed.....

Hey Dean,
Congradulations on your new Cobra. I live just a few minutes away from David and have seen this car on many occasions. It is absolutly beautiful. David is a perfectionist and is shows in the way he kept his car. You will not be dissapointed.

Congratulations,
Now that you're experiencing the sleepless nights that most have endured, you'll soon appreciate that this litlle car will open more freindship doors, than you ever imagined. Welcome to the cobra family.

Dan (and Rick, Jim, Durt, John and others),
THANK YOU for welcoming me so graciously into your community. There is a certain camaraderie among serious automotive enthusiasts that cannot be fully measured. Whether you get your "Jones" driving a Ferrari, Corvette or Cobra, it's great to be able to share your experiences, and most importantly learn, from others that share your passion.
Happy Holidays to everyone!

Dean,
I was a little sad to see 747 go last Saturday, but I know it's headed to a good home. Thanks for making this process go so smoothly. I know you're really going to enjoy the car as much as I did.

David,
Thank you. While I know that you have a temporary void right now, I have no doubt that with your skills you will create another masterpiece sometime soon (and probably sooner than you realize). And what joy the car brought, trust me when I say that your kids will overshadow that a thousand fold.
Not only am I looking forward to seeing the results of your next "project", but my offer to you will always stand (you know what I'm talking about). If you ever find yourself in So Cal, please allow me the pleasure to toss you the keys....
Best regards,
-Dean
