Default "Hey Little Cobra" by The Rip Chords

I just ran across a "Cobra" song - does anyone have a copy that they can share?

Here are the words:

Hey, Little Cobra, don't you know
you're gonna to shut 'em down

I took my Cobra down to the track,
hitched to the back of my Cadillac,

Everyone was there just a waiting for me
There were plenty of Stingrays and XKEs,

Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
Spring Little Cobra with all your might
Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
Spring Little Cobra with all your might

Hey, Little Cobra, don't you know
you are going to shut them down

When the flag went down, you could hear rubber burn,
The Stingray pulled me going into the turn

I hung a big shift, and I got into high,
When I when I flew by the Stingray, I waved bye bye.

Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
Spring Little Cobra with all your might
Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
Spring Little Cobra with all your might

Hey, Little Cobra, Don't you know
you are going to shut 'em down

Around the turn into the straight away
I was blowing off everything that got in my way,

Stingrays and Jags were so far behind
I took my Cobra out of gear and let it coast to the line.

Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
Spring Little Cobra with all your might
Spring little Cobra getting ready to strike
Spring Little Cobra with all your might

Hey, Little Cobra, Don't you know
you are going to shut 'em down

Shut'em down, shut'em down, shut'em down...

Some of the car shows I attend have vendors who sell special mix CDs of various hot rod tunes. One that I bought this year has this song on it.

de Capell,

Just looked up your bio... No date of birth and you're from nowhere.....

That has to explain you haven't heard of this song before.... YOU DON'T EXIST!!!!!!!

I think the sad thing about this is that I was around when the song first came out... Life is cruel.....

Thank's for the Christmas present Jamo! I'm sure I can use your appreciation for "Hey Little Cobra" alot!

Somebody just *has* to do a trance mix on the song ... or maybe a rap version!

THERE WAS A C/D PRODUCED FOR DVSF-I OR II THAT HAD ALL SONGS FROM THE 60'S AND SOME 50'S. "HEY LITTLE COBRA" WAS ON THAT C/D.

MIGHT STILL BE OBTAINABLE FROM DV.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.

I was also around, but never heard this song. I don't have a ram player, so I found an mp3 version at:
http://crux.baker.edu/cmead01/

That site also has Little Deuce Coupe, Little GTO, Fun-Fun-Fun, and something calle "She thinks my tractor is Sexy."

The cobra song is kind of a rip off of other songs with different lyrics.

"Shut Down" by the Beach Boys was a far better tune.

For my 50th birthday, a friend found an original LP of the 60's album & had it framed for me (acetate still in sleeve.)
For current info - here's the link (sorry Jamo.) http://www.ripchords.net/

Any one who dosen't know of the Rip Cords isn't a Cobra Nut.

I was in Hemet, out of town when the earthquake struck, picking up my Mother-In-Law for the holiday, she saved a clipping for me from "The Press Enterprise":

"Automotive Icon Carroll Shelby and nostalgia buffs have a new holiday tune to croon. To honor the 40th anniveraary of Shelby's popular Cobra, the Rip Chords have given a Christmas spin to the 1960s hit "Hey Little Cobra." The just released "Santa's Got A Cobra" was written by Carol Conners, composer of the first Cobra hit.
The new holiday version of the 1964 song was reinvented to celebrate the debut of the Cobra for decades ago.
"Carroll Shelby has a Cobra, now Santa has a Cobra, and I am still wishing for one of my original Cobras back under my Christmas tree," said Connors who once had three.
The idea to resurrect the Cobra theme came in May when former Beach Boy Al Jardine urged the groupe to resurrect some of their original songs."

And I see by the above post that the news is already out.

I ACTUTAL HAVE THE ORGINAL ALBUM SIGNED BY CARROLL. BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE LAST YEAR ON E BAY AS A XMAS GIFT TO MR. RICH MASON (CSX2196 ,3304 & 2427). FOR YOU "YOUNGSTERS" THE ALBUM FROM COLUMBIA RECORDS #CS8951 FEATURES A SMALL BLOCK RACING COBRA. THE TITLE OF THE ALBUM IS "HEY LITTLE COBRA AND OTHER HOT ROD HITS". IF MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT, CARROLL GAVE CAROL CONNERS A COBRA AFTER IT BECAME A HIT. ADDITIONALLY, THE ALBUM FEATURES A "UNKOWN" AT THE TIME....BRIAN WILSON. IF YOU HAVE TO ASK, YOU WERE IN DIAPERS AT THE TIME! FOR A REAL LAUGH, GET AHOLD OF THE BILL COSBY ALBUM "200MPH" WHERE HE DESCRIBES THE "RIDE" IN THE TWIN PAXTON 427 COBRA THAR OLD CARROLL GAVE TO HIM. A GOOD FRIEND TONY MAXON LATTER DIED IN THAT CAR.
