Does She REALLY Know?
Here's one for the guys..............
I didn't want to hijack Art Burtt's thread on completion cost, so I started this one.
Question:
Does your wife REALLY know how much your Cobra/replica cost (including upkeep, insurance, etc.)?

Yes and she doesn't care, and she doesn't feel like she should have to get even. It is something for us to do together to have fun!!! Lucky to have her!!!

Not only does my wife know what the costs are, when I am a little short in my "fun" account and I need something for the car she will put the money in for me to get it.
She gets to drive the car any time she wants and is very happy with the situation.

My wife knows about the KMP and it's cost. I actually do full disclosure in case I should vapor lock anytime soon so the Cobra vulchers don't get her when the time comes ( ) to unveil whatever it is I have gotten myself into. My problem is I am usually one car ahead all the time. It has actually gotten worse this month . My trouble is springing the shock as many of my purchases are years in the making in my head, but I seize the opportunity for some good instant buys. Kind of like a woman buying shoes on sale, just the analogy has no meaning for her because I cannot make a practical argument that it's like her buying a trailer load of shoes---ever. It is logical, just not a practical answer at any given time. In other words, what man would want his wife to say, "Hey honey, I found some shoes that were 50% off, don't you think that is great? So I bought a 1000 pairs." The KMP actually defies all drivel above. I bought it out of love and that is why it is OK with her and I. One down, two to go .

Yup! She knew how much the first one was and also this one. I run both of them through my shop account and she is also part of the business. She's also my best friend. (That's a scarry thought.) The only thing she doesn't know is what she's gettin' fer Christmas!

I'd gladly tell my wife if she asked. She said as long as I use my bonus money from work to finance it,it was o.k. with her. That,s a real motivation to work at max production every month, but I sure wish my rich uncle(Sam) would get his hand out of my pocket-it definately is putting me in a higher bracket(GRRR).

My wife knows to the penny. She doesn't care. She doesn't think she needs to get even either. She also enjoys the Cobra almost as much as I do. (I even think she is warming up to the idea that there is "aluminum" in our future ) No wonder I keep her around!

I have no secrets that I keep from my wife. She has been very supportive and I can buy what ever I want within reason. However, I still believe at that I am now many thousands over my original build cost estimate that a policy of "Don't ask, Don't tell" may be in order until the Cobra is completed. I also signed on to the "You can drive it when ever you want Honey" policy. She loves me a lot more than I can ever say. She is a GM engineer and my daughters name is "Shelby" for pete's sake!
