Meanwhile....back to the poll, I don't see Ford putting that ugly thing on the market. It has elements of everything from Audi to Nissan but nothing from the Cobra except the slightly bulged rear fenders and those are spoiled by the snubbed off rear end.

Remember the Ford GT 90? Same thing here. The GT 90 did not look at all like a GT 40 and nobody liked it either.

I hope Ford is reading this forum. If they're going to try doing a "new" Cobra, they will have to get a lot closer in styling than they are for it to have mass appeal.

It makes me think of all of those races I've seen where a car nudges the wall and off comes the nose. I have images of front ends that look like that.....but 50 feet in the air!! Good place for them.

For me, it will have to get a lot closer before I give it the nod. Horsepower ain't gonna sell this one!! Big thumbs up on the new Ford GT though. That one they did right!

The new Cobra finally makes it over here to the RIGHT coast at the NY Auto Show this weekend. I'm going!

The New York Times asked a bunch of auto-industry insiders like Lutz and Mays and a bunch of others for their picks of the new batch of cars. Bad news for the new Cobra: only one guy from Nissan picked it, and the only nice thing he could say about it was he liked the dashboard: "The dashboard on that car was just exquisite. Just the cleanliness. Just the billet aluminum that was milled out. And the gauges started and stopped where they should; you didn't have to have the whole gauge. And the toggle switches, which are so important to a sports car. Just a beautiful layout."

On the up side for Ford, looks like almost everybody likes the Mustang. I'm pasting in the arcticle with the picks (minus the comments). If you want to read the whole thing it's here - might require a free NYT registration to read it, but I THINK the link should work without it.
