Default Butt size..help please

OK, I know this could get outta hand quick. I need a little help. I am in the market for my first cobra. I am a large guy, 270 lbs, 42 inch, fat butt. I have the week off, so I went out to check out the Roger Upton cobra (he is local to me here in Tulsa) and honestly, I was really cramped in his car. He tells me that his body was taken off a West Coast with the extended body so his was about as large as they come. Very concerning to me as I don't know that I could spend any serious time a car that size. Roger has the backbone frame and I am wondering if that is eating up space in the cockpit and that maybe I wll have luck with another brand. I hope I am not hosed. Length seems ok, but width is concerning.

Thanks
Buzz

Buzz: If you can, sit in as many Cobras as you can; there MAY be one you may fit in.

Hey! A fellow Tulsan!

The original wheel base is 90". There is a manufacture that is producing a Cobra replica with 94.5" wheel base, I forget who it is though. I actually think there is one that makes a 96".

Another thing to check is the diameter of the steering wheel. 16" steering wheel can be alot more cramped than a 14".

One more thing is the seats and how the rails are designed. You might be about to get a thinner padded seat with lower profile rails.

Buzz:
Check out Premiere Motorsports (www.premiercobras.com). They are in Kansas City, and are the roomiest of all the cars I sat in, and I sat in almost every major brand. Plus, Premiere cars give you more room and comfort while still being very accurate and true to the originals (if you care about originality...which I do.)

Good luck with your search and welcome to the club!

Hey Russ,

Thanks for the plug. We have indeed worked the cockpit very hard. The big guys fit and the tall guys fit. Would more than welcome you in the shop anytime.

Don't forget the Kirkham 427 "J" model at the reduced price through next week.

Buzzmobile...you're a skinny-assed wimp with stats like that.

"J" version is named after one of the most famous Cobra owners in history...

They dent the inside of rear fender (nicely) so the seat moves back further, take the seat rails out, move the pedals forward, use taller pedals, move the steering column up, 15" wheel, take some padding out of the seat cushion...and now they're playing with a dropped frame seat that sits even lower and a dropped footbox, and maybe some more forward pedal placement.

Trust me, an inch here...an inch there.

Review some recent threads...an arruminum roller for $39,900.

Buzz,

How tall are you? This would also help for the J model sizing as some folks are long on legs, others long on torso. These things weren't exactly comfy back in the 60s, and aren't up to 2000 era standards by any means. Also, much of it is in your attitude towards loving the beast you are driving.

Well, I am 6' 1.5" and a slender 230 lbs and I have not had a complaint other than my old model SPF had too low of a butt cushion which was easily fixed with some padding, which I did. I am mostly legs too when you disect my height. Jamo looks assolutely smug and snug in his setup. I think you will be fine with a J model. Get 'em while supplies last!

I wonder if I could get a JAMO signature series J model?????

Actually, I was really tossing this Kirkham deal around. Does the deal go with all the models...hybrid , 427 etc?
