Buzz,

As always your work is superb. The "old fart" would probably agree with your changes.

Buzz - You da man. Tip: those two rectangular ports below the rear bumper (bumper?) are exhaust ports. You won't need them on your side-piped version. That should clean up the rear a little.

I love the new front-end treatment. That is SO much better. The wider and more aggresive rear wheels/flares are also an excellent change. Can you change the color? I'd love to see red or perhaps blue/white. I haven't read all the responses so pardon me if that has already been asked.

As an engineer, I really enjoyed the recent "Rides" program about the car. It's really mind boggling to think of going from concept painting to fully-functioning car in only 6 months.

The wheels look lincoln or T-bird derived. They should do an updated version of the original Cobra wheels.

They should put these wheels on it:

Does anyone know if the V-10 is sourced from Ford's V-10 truck engine?[

I finally read all the posts (Caleb fell asleep - it's a miracle). I agree that the wheels have GOT to go. A deep-dish design that whispers of Halibrand lineage would be well suited. Lowering the tail lights would help but is there a minimum height limit that's mandated by regulations? Is there already a center-mounted brake lamp in the design? I forgot to look. If not, it'll have to be added. Should we mount the rearview mirror to the top of the dash instead of the windshield? Hmm...

As it is, your current redesign looks absolutely exceptional and Ford would be foolish to flippantly pass it by. Good-bye Audi TT, hello New Cobra.

Did they ever say exactly how much power that engine made? I heard the number 500 (or 500-something) mentioned.

Default Drawings

OK, here they are... The drawings, there is…!

I already saw the “Buzz” plastic surgery he made to the Cobra, and although I can’t work with Photoshop, I made a couple of drawings of my own for the Cobra, by hand, based in the new concept one.

Tell me what do you think of my idea.

Mr. Bruce, and others, please be gentle…

Best Regards from Portugal,
Ernesto Freitas

You all know that the Cobra descends from the AC, the lines are almost the same, but did you know that the men behind the AC lines (drawing) was a Portuguese named “Tojeiro” ???

JMHO: Side vents too reminiscent of the new Corvette and Viper. Trunk lid should extend further down the trunk. Rear panel under license plate should me minimized. I wish I had your guys' talent!

Nice Work Buzz,

CS does want some mods made to the front and rear end however the stylist at Ford have their own ideas of what the modern shape should be. I will show these to him when he visits the Vegas facility later this week.

That V-10 was something like 605 horse power I believe. Also I got the DISTINCT impression it is was based on a modular V-8 and two cyclinders were added? Never the less, THE prototype V-10 used here seems to be the one and only made for the new Cobra.

Very Cool Brent F. that C.S. and some others will get to see the Buzz mods!

Default Color!!

Brent, that's fantastic! It would be incredible just to hear what CS thinks - good or bad!
Pat & Excel, I agree wholeheartedly about the wheels. If I can I will try to come up with a modern interpretation of the Halibrands. Here it is in blue and in red. Rear exhaust ports have become part of the venturi for hustling air out from under the car and the high mounted brake lights are housed in the roll bar assemblies (not sure if that's the righ spot, but they'll certainly be visible!)

Man, you guys are good! Ernesto, still a little too much like a Corvette on the front side vent. I think the front fender and door is rite on though. I like the rectangulare tailites too. Combine the two cars and It pretty much there.

Bruce,
Both the Ford rendition and the Buzz Model still retain the front air brake and this may be why the need for the oversize side vents.
Just my guess.

Cranky, that full side scoop is part of the Corvette "signature" , starting with the first ones. Much like the one on a Mustang ,only the Mustangs is on the rear fender, in front of the wheel. The Cobras side scoop is higher up on the fender and doesn't blend in behind the front body work. Leaving it like the 'Vette, it just screams GM. The one on the new car is too low, look where the one on your car is, up high. I do realise this is just what I'm seeing, but I have years of experience studying design(mainly sculpture, female nudes).

I think the Buzz Cobra "modernizes" the Cobra in a good way and keeps the Cobra looking like a Cobra.

If the Ford guys stick with their "hideous" rendition of a Cobra, the car will be a BIG failure. The "original" Cobra is a awesome looking car that has the power to back it up. The new Cobra is like a fat ugly woman. She may be a mean machine, but she's still ugly.

I've really looked at all the pictures here.

To be really honest. I like Ford's version.

I know you've all spent a lot of time and effort on your
efforts, and I'm sure many others like your versions better.

Just me, I like Ford's design. It's modern, clean, not too
fussy in the front, side. Everyone seems to end up with
a clean backside, just slightly different versions.

OK Sizzler, I agree with you when you say that the “New Cobra” design it's modern, clean, not too fussy… but this kind of thinking is only for the average cars, not with the COBRA!

The Cobra is an icon in Sports car history, and you know better then me, that there are thousands of Cobra fans, like no other car or make have…

So, I believe that Ford should make a bigger effort to bring us a genuine Cobra successor, like they did with the GT model…

When I made the drawings, I didn’t had in mind, nothing more than an opportunity to show some variations that might be interesting, but they are also in the line of Ford’s model.
That’s evident that there are only a few capable to make a car project such is this, with all the background that the Cobra name implies, and I really believe that Ford is not sleeping and they will make a few changes in the project…
Even more, after they read all of these posts…

Best Regards from Portugal,
Ernesto Freitas
