Default racing stripes

this may sound like a dumb question. can the stripes on a cobra
be vinyl static cling or must they be painted? are there companies
that sell the correct stripe kit?

Enzo at Finish line sells them for $30. Mine are vinyl in fact if Enzo doesn't have the colors you want email me and I will sell you a set. See my gallelry for example.

Charles:
Are you talking about the team stripes on the fenders, or the front-to-back LeMans stripes? Either way, you can have a good vinyl guy in your area put them on. The LeMans stripes will be a whole lot more than $30, though. I'd throw on an extra 0, and estimate them around $300+. But, if you don't like them, you can take 'em right off.

My stripes and gumballs are all done in vinyl, but it's not static cling. It uses a gentle adhesive, but once I take them off, I have to have a brand new set made. See my gallery for pics.

Great idea Russ! What is the width on your stripe?

FYI - A lot of people seem to be having bad luck with the magnetic variety.

Alright....I'm going to bed.

Charles,

If you are planning to do the nose to tail stripes, this is not a job to do yourself. Getting the vinyl stripes straight on the curved Cobra body is VERY difficult.

I can't decide if I want to paint mine on or have them applied by a professional. I don't think I would ever want to run without them but who knows....

Paint them on. They will look much better and you may find, like I did, if you try to peel off the vinyl, it will pull your paint right off the car. I had to repaint the whole car.

Pirate:
My FIA stripe is 5" wide, the side gumballs are 19" in diameter, while the hood and trunk gumballs are 17".

Rally Snake:
Man, that sucks that you had to repaint the car. I wonder what happened? I've pulled mine off and re-applied them several times, and never had a problem.

The front to back stripes are not the same width all the way along (wider near the cockpit, narrower at each end of the car) so I don't know if you could easily get vinyl cut and applied that would look good.
