New Member needs coupe purchase advice
Greetings,
I'm looking to purchase a FFR Daytona Coupe replica. I ordered, received, and am presently in a state of continual drooling over the FFR cars in their DVD, especially the Cobra/Daytona coupe. I'm out of my mind with gotta-have-it fever. I just recently began studying Shelby history--and even more than the GT40, the Daytona Coupe history really has my interest. Only 6--WOW--and each with its own special history!
Unfortunately I've done far less research on coupe replica kit makers. What is the general concensus on the FFR Cobra Coupe kit?
What is the market like for professionally-built coupe kits--and what's the price range/markup on a completed kit? I ask because I'm a year out from retirement fromt he Army and I'd sure like to do something I'd enjoy that would bring in a little added cash to suppliment my retirement check.
*What do you all think about FFR building its new kit on the C5 chassis/powertrain? Is there a lot of brand-loyalty here or do folks just kinda shrug their shoulders and accept it? I gotta tell you that I've been pretty loyal to Vettes in the past (cause Dad had a '54 he sold to get me out of the hospital when I was born early! ...Dad later went to work for Ford!), but I've always really wanted an AC Cobra kit! But now that I've read a bit about the coupe's history, THAT is the car for me!

Here is one that was just done by DV at Classics by Elite
DVSF II Daytona Coupe Is Done
DV, Tony and Classics by Elite are all represented here. You can talk to them. There is also a factory five forum where I am sure you could get a bunch of information.
C5 chassis and powertrain are hard to beat!
Rick
By the way, welcome to the site and to our madness!

Resell value would be greatly diminshed by using a Brand X powertrain, and, yes, it would be "stigmatized". Blasphemy would be more like it!

Be aware the the quality of any FFR product is a product of the materials used and the expertise of the builder. FFR makes a great "kit" but relys heavily on the builder to get it done right. If you want to build your car and the the skils go for it. If you don't have the skills and time take a look at the new Superformance coupe.

If your in the market for a Daytona Coupe. Jesper (head Factory Five Engineer) is selling his, I'm going to list it on Ebay this weekend for him, so if your interested in it, you can either drop him a line, or see it under the "mrmustang" or "cobrapromotions" user name this weekend. For details and pictures, see the attached url: Jespers Daytona Coupe
You will not find as nicer build, at a better price than what he is willing to sell it for. That I can promise you...............
Sincerely,
Bill S.

As for mark up and resale, the "home builder" usually takes a financial hit, unless he really cut corners with his build, in which case, that too will play a factor in what it will sell for when the time comes.

That does look like a good price! What some one mentioned about Factory Five is true of any kit that come like FFR offers. There is some much of the build that is dependant on the skill and choices made by the builder. While the basics are all sound the varience from one build to another can be substantial.

I'll second the originality and the quality of the Upstates Daytona Coupe replica. If you have the money to make that leap, then Bill is the person to call at Upstate.

series2, this is a really old thread. You'd be better off to post a couple photo's in the for sale section.
I know I'd like to see some pics of the AL car!
