Cobey,
I do know the mechanic who reworked the engine, and have spoken to him many times. His name is Robert Becker, and if you send me an e-mail, I'll give you his number. Or, you can just call Cherner's main number in Potomac, and they will connect you with him.
Have fun.......

YO guys - I just want to thank you all. All of you have been a tremendous help to me since I joined the forum a few short weeks ago.
(I know it's a drastic departure from the above discussion about the Cherner Contemporary but . . . .)
Just to shout it out (cause I'm feeling pretty stoked about it) I ordered the "beast" (as Roscoe put it) last Friday(!!)
The bid (it was a close race) goes to Sonny with A&C - I sent him a check to get started, and another to John York to get him started running down the engine/drive train.
Give me about a year (from what I'm told), and I should be running with you guys (or trying to keep up anyway). . .
Once again, can't thank you guys enough. Please stand by for questions as I go through the process, and please stand by for another baby addition to the family.
Can't wait to drive it home!!
Paul
PS - my weekends are starting to free-up a little - you guys still on for "grease up" Saturday at the VI?

Paul,
Congratulations.....the key was to just do it. You can research yourself crazy if you're not careful. A competent builder can turn almost any decent kit into a very nice Cobra replica if it's done right with good components.
The VI is on EVERY Sat. I even made one of my rare appearances from Annapolis last Sat. Hope to see you there sometime soon.

HELP US dear lord! Not another CACC member! You realize that being a member of CACC voids your organ donor card, life insurance will be impossible to find and the Red Cross will no longer take your blood. On the bright side you will be much safer in third world countries.
Welcome Paul. You are in a good group, one of the most active in the country. Do come to Columbus for DVSFIV even though the car is not finished. And I will see you guys at the VI Memorial day weekend!

Thanks for the welcome Rick,
Good thing about the organ donor thing - I've been looking for an excuse to bail out of that and keep all my parts.
LOL about the "third world countries" comment - have you ever been to Washington, DC?
I wish I could have my car by Memorial day, probably closer to 2005. . .

THERE'S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THE "DONOR" THING THAT GETS TO ME.
I GUESS YOU HAVE TO DRIVE A FACTORY FIVE TO APPRECIATE THE CONCEPT.
I GET THIS PICTURE OF MYSELF LAYING ON THE FLOOR OF WADE'S GARAGE WITH DOC AND RIPPER STANDING OVER ME WITH REAL BIG POWER TOOLS. "SAVE THIS". "CHUCK THIS". "THIS SHOULD BE CLEANED UP". "THROW THAT AWAY" - - AND THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT MY LIVER, SPLEEN, HEART, KIDNEY AND GAWD KNOWS WHAT.
SCARY THOUGHT - - REALLY.
Y'AL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.
BLACKJACK
