Question What make driving gloves do you wear??

I currently have an old Motorcycle glove I'm wearing while driving my Cobra in the cold here in Los Angeles. I looked up some on eBay and there seems to be cheap ones from $9.00 to expensive ones that are $100. What make are you wearing?

for cold weather, i use a variety of gloves, buy them at backpacking stores. Or nice leather gloves. For track, i have some Simpson Talon gloves, or use some army aviator nomex gloves. lots of choices.

I have some nicely worn black leather ones I bought back in the early 90s during my Vette days...nothing better than worn leather gloves. I've had to have them restitched twice.

I use Simpsons for open track.

I use Mechanics for autocross for cleaning the tires.

Bought a really nice pair of tan stringbacks at the Concours Italiano at the Monterey Historics a few months ago. I'll let the Turkish One tell that story.

I am using a nice pair of black kid leather gloves which have really soft leather, fit tight and have a velcro attach or tightener on the top of the wrist. These are kind of like an unlogo'ed style of baseball batting glove. Comfortable as heck. I paid about $25 for the pair at a men's store. There is no brand name.

Recently, I purchased a similar pair at of all places Marshalls. They were on sale at about $12. All leather, black, very soft, fit tight, again with the velcro wrist tightener tab. How well they will last I do not know.

Advice? Go to a good sporting goods shop and see if Nike has a black pair of baseball batting gloves without too much logo adornment. They grip well.

Frankly, I am such a goofball.... I am always loosing a glove or a pen or whatever... however, I always tend to loose them QUICKER if I pay more for them. I have a wonderful collection of empty pen boxes from expensive pens and single gloves. I am sure I am not alone here...

Orvis deerskin shooting gloves. They are about $20. They stretch to fit, well, like a glove. You could pick a dime up off the floor with them.

Black military flight gloves - thin leather on palms and fingers, Nomex on the backs. Just right for the cool mornings here.

There's a few pairs on eBay right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...9&category=135

"Driver's gloves", kind of like the ones you see hanging in hardware stores; thick leather, super soft and supple. Could be a little longer up the wrist, but they give me a good grip on the wheel.

Thank you all for your advise. Like Art, I tend to lose things, especially when they're expensive. My wife gave me a fabulous pair of gloves from some fancy store on Madison Ave. I lost the left hand. In the 70's I paid dearly for a Porsche Design sunglasses, all the rage back then with the disco era. I lost two of them within a month of ownership. A few years ago I purchased an expensive Revo. Lost that one in two months. So I now have the 2 for $15 sunglasses I found at a swap meet. Have it for two years and it won't go away. So I will definitely not go for the $100/pair. The military kevlar stuff that bwana50 is suggesting looks interesting. Thanks again.

you might look at the shooters gloves in the "cabela" catalog. I have a set, as well as an old pair of motorcycle (summer) gloves. Both are a tossup and feel great.

I live in a rural area and picked up a pair at a local "feed" store as in feed for the horses and other farm animals.

They are riding gloves - Black soft goatskin, comfortable tight fit, good grip and under 15 bucks...

and would'nt you know, been missing for the past couple weeks!

Hi all

Dirtrich, Jamo

I agree, I have two pair of cheap gloves that hang around in the boot/trunk.

The mechanics gloves are cheap and as well as being great for working on the engine and exhaust they keep your hands warm in the car. Watch they aren't dirty.

If you don't mind gloves with 'Mechanix' written all over them - they are the go.

I have used the yellow leather 'Riggers' glove as they are the horse type. Find they are always a good feel. The only problem is that they are a little short. Cheap also.

Try both.

Cheers
