Default Glove Box Upgrade???

Does anyone have a solution for a replacement locking device for their glove box? Specifically, I have a Superformance with the standard lock-unlock with a key glove box. What I would like is a very similar look to what I have now, with the exception that you push a button that also has a center lock to open the glove box instead of using a key every single time to access and close the box. Any good ideas that have worked?? I want to get into my glove box without using a key every time, but also be able to lock as needed.

I changed the one in our SPF to the twist and lock type. The main problem is that you'll have to cut the backboard on the glove box door to accommodate the short locking shaft and also fabricate a new striker. I used the locking mechanism off of a 69 VW which you can purchase in JC Whitney and it took about 2 hours to make the changes. Have your Dremel handy because it's the easiest way to cut the back panel down.

Check out Holden Spares at www.holden.co.uk and enter in keyword "glove box.

They stock an authentic Wilmot Breeden glove box latch/lock and it is veddy veddy British! About $10.00 US and despite their being in the UK, shipping is cheap, parts are shipped promptly and arrive within a few days.

By the way, check out their site for more Cobra authentic British accessories. Buy British, and support our loyal partner in a troubled world...

Thanks for the tip. Good stuff here. Could not tell by the part-picture if the center button where the key is inserted can be depressed to open the glove box w/o a key. Any idea?

Zoomer: Nice color that indigo blue. Good luck with the car. I'm curious; are those sidpipes ceramic coated by Superformance, or are they a third party product?
