Talking Best quote from #1 son so far.....

This during last Monday afternoon's romp through town with my soon-to-be 12 year old....

"Dad, did you see that guy back there in the blue pick-up? He just did a double-take....like 6 times!!!"

#1 son after seeing the finished car for the first time, knowing it took 16 years to finish:

"Dad, that's not a car. It's a monument to perseverance!"

Wife's first comments;

"Why does it need a fire extinguisher?" followed shortly by "How come there's only a roll bar on your side?"

At last years Summer Run when we all stopped for lunch we took turns running to the gas station up the road. Two younger guys that worked at the station said " Do you guys own these cars or do you just drive them for other people" I thought that was great

..the 1989 GT40 reunion at the "Glen" number 1 son, now a lawyer, says as we hold up P1075 on a "Parade" lap, "Dad, I think that guy wants to pass....."

Like He!! I'll let that b@astard pass..I saw that car here in 1967 AND 1968 and I KNOW I can go faster....

The whole concept of looking in the mirror and and having 1075 BEHIND you is just too weird to imagine...

Trying to remember my lame A$$ excuses of the high points of my life...

coming back from a trip up to the Olthoff's this PM, with my daughter Becky riding, as usual we pulled over to the right to cruise an Interstate rest stop, and as we pulled out the other end, the merge lane was long and straight, so i got hard on it in third, and Becky hollared out "Go Daddy-O!!"

After a brief and slow ride down the street he said nothing but did have that $hit eatin grin we all get. Turned around got it headed straight and nailed it. Sideways in first - sideways in second easy shift to third then hard on the brakes to make the turn into the driveway. His first words "Mom dad has built a rocket ship"

I gave my son Ray a ride home from work one afternoon, when he was 19. It had been some length of time since I had gotten on it with him in the car. He asked if I would put on a little demonstration for his co-workers as we left.

I foolishly agreed, and when I had rounded the corner on to the main street, I buried my foot in the throttle, took it up to about 7 grand, shifted and did it again. By then it was over three times the legal speed limit and the deafening roar actually caused one car to pull over to the side of the road. I don't know what he thought was coming but, by his reckoning, it obviously was to be avoided....

When it was over and I was rapidly slowing down to a safe and sane speed, I glanced over at Ray. With his eyes wide and a big grin on his face, Ray exclaimed, "Wow, I forgot it went like that!!!"

Later, he informed me that his co-workers were sufficiently impressed and that his braggin' rights were firmly established.......or words to that effect....

The 14 year old next-door neighbor at first did not want to go for a ride, (Imagine THAT!), but his Dad just got out after HIS time in the passenger seat, and said "Go on, just around the block" to his son. Now, this young man is into the black "Death Metal" T-shirts, studded belt, etc, and is just too cool to show any emotion what-so-ever, but we were half a block into the "test ride", just cruising, really, and he said, "This car is SO COOL!" ........ Yeah, he gets it.

My 16 year old daughter as I was dropping her off at a party and all the boys came out and surrounded the car.

"You know dad, you always say this car is a chick magnet, It's not. It's a boy magnet"

Not the funniest or best quote, but definitely the most frequent:

Me: "Come on, I'll take you on a ride!"
Whoever: "$hit no, I don't even think I can touch that thing...It might kill me."
