I watched on Speed (the channel, not the drug) last night. Everything was going through at no reserve. Looked like there were hardly any bidders there towards the end. When I turned it on a really nice-looking 70 SS454 Chevelle was finishing up on the block. Red w/black stripes. The commentators were oohing about how nice it was. Don't know if it was an SS clone or what, but it sold for $20,000.00. A Hennessey 600 Viper with 1,500 miles sold for right around $60K. Seemed like last night was a good night to be there.
Blake, why didn't you borrow the cash from your boss? He probably had that much in his money clip

I saw a Contemporary go at an auction last year for 23k. I stopped bidding at 18k. It looked great from a distance but hadn't been registered in 10 years, was a bit sloppy in overall build quality and the underside looked filthy. I'm glad I didn't get it but if it were on tv I bet it would have looked good.

I took some photos of the Contemporary. It was VERY clean...My boss asked me how much it would go for and I figured somewhere between $35-and low $40's....when it slowed down @ $18k, and finally went for $23k, i was floored....it was a great car!!
There are a couple CSX 4000's on the block, one from texas with a license plate "GENUIN" or something like that...VERY nice cars.
There's an original CSX 3XXX, that I haven't made it to yet, but i'm outta here and i'll report soon...

Blake ,
I would have jumped all over it ...even in this market that was a heck of a deal.....and as you said , many cars went cheap..several times the auctioneer would point out its last auction price of 100,000 and it would go in the 40's..
Paul ,
My Contemporary is absolutely filthy underneath too .....you think its time I should dump it?

Blake isn't that the contemporary that is setup like a street 427? No rollbar undercar exhaust? That may be why it went so low.

I don't know, the market is so strange right now for used Cobra replicas hardly anything surprises me these days.
A "new to the ilsands" Contemporary recently showed up here. Awesome car, may be the best replica in the Islands. 428 with Webers, incredible detail. I gotta post some pics in my Gallery of that bad boy!

What can we say... It's a buyers market. Every Contemporary made is worth more than that in parts.

The Chevelle was a non numbers matching car with a 396.
Nice driver for a '70. The better years for them were 68 and 69 being peak. The LS6 powered cars from 70 were the real monsters. Very rare.
Definitely seems like tonights has many many more bidders than on Thursday night.

The contemporary was set up as a 'semi-street'. it has under car exhaust, but it DOES have a rollbar...smith gauges, very nice engine...knock off's, the works.
maybe next year
