Shipping a Car
A friend plans to ship his car from Illinois to the west coast. Any recommendations for/against any carriers?
Thanks,
Lowell

many carriers are listed in Hemmings. I have used both Rich Lacey (advertiser on this site) and Reliable with good results. Reliable hauls show cars for the auto industry as well. Horseless Carriage, Intercity and Reliable have been used by neighbors and friends who ship cars back and forth from Detroit to warmer climes during the winter snow bird times, all with good results.
want a smaller carrier with more personalized service, give Rich a call. Bill

I agree with Bill Wells, Reliable carries for the big three and does a real nice job, if you can aford it.
I might add, put a cover on the car after it is loaded to minimize the effects of three days in a box.

Ditto on Rich! Treats your car like his own. First rate all the way and very personal service, too.

Rich's Classic Transport is the way to go. Rich has helped me in the past and has done work for many folks on the site.

Another Vote For Rich's Classic Transport
I used Rich Lacey to transport my ERA from CT to TX.
The service was top notch. One of the best things about the service was that he was able to deliver the car right to my house. He backed the trailer into my driveway and we rolled the car right into my garage.
I would not hesitate to recommend him or use him again.

I have had great sucess on several occasios with Intercity Lines. They are usually priced right and can pick up quickly.

Intercity did a great job for me. Had a very tight pickup and drop schedule. They delivered on both ends. The FL dealer called me to compliment on the company I used and they showed up in Memphis right on schedule.

Intercity
Another vote for Intercity. They were on time for pick up and early for delivery (including having to get through a huge snow storm) and priced with everyone else. I would not hesitate to use them again. Driver treated the car with great care down to white cotton gloves when he was driving it off the trailer.
Intercity
