Default What is the one thing you admire most?

OK maybe two things you admire most about these cars, be it the overall curves, the performance, the features or lack there of, the way it sucks you down into the seat with acceleration etc.. I know for some it may be hard to put into words but what is it that makes you say "Damn I love this car".
For me it has to be the way it looks coming at you down the road (which is something I don't get to see too often) all low and menacing looking with just a hint of smoke coming out of the pipes and the NOISE. For me there's nothing sweeter !!!!!!!

True007: You are correct! The lines on these cars are absolutely remarkable in their beauty and curvaciousness!!! From the front is probably my favorite; close behind (!) is the view from the rear. The 3/4 views front and back are nice as well. The WEAKEST view, IMHO, is the straight-on side view, but I'm nit-picking here. The performance is awesome. The sound of the lumpy-idling 351W is great, too! The Cobra garners a lot of attention, which can be good and bad. Rolling up that garage door, and seeing the Cobra muscling under the car cover, still gives me pause; I am one of the lucky people, just having a Cobra.

Default ONE?

The one thing that has always attracted me was the big rear tires tucked way up and under the huge rear quarter panels. Not looking from the rear, but from a low 3/4 front angle. Something about how the rear quarters seem to expand out of those little doors....

for me, what i "admire" most is my enjoyment of driving my SPF.

I live where i can drive it every day, and no matter how cold i may be, no matter how fatigued, no matter how hot and dehydrated i may be, i just love sitting in that seat, looking down that short hood, and hearing the crackle of my exhaust.

It is the supreme part of the ownership experience for me.

Being out on some rural, back country Carolina road.

I think the view out over the hood as you are driving is unsurpassed. The muscular yet sensual pontoon fenders are unlike anything available in a new car today. The beautifully contoured hoodscoop suggests a lithe runner capable of consuming unlimited quantities of oxygen at whim. The car feels like an extension of your body and soul from the first moment you strap in-as if you have known each other for ever.

One? Tough. Twenty, no problem

The nostalgia, raw/elemental feel and the sheer beauty of both.

Looking at the car from the front, I am reminded of a tiger, crouching, ready to attack it's prey. That feeling hasn't gone away in years.

I agree with maxrpm, that view is a real thrill.

The number of new friends and acquaintances that the car provides. The car is a catharsis for conversations and smiles moreso than any car that I've ever owned or admired.

Sheer beauty of the car. In the 60s the Cobra was an art form before it's time. Raw power too

Default The One Thing

Power. I've got 11,000 miles on my car, and it STILL amazes me the power this car has. And for those people that ride in it for the first time--that is the single thing they key on--"Wow, I didn't know that these things were so fast".

The second (I know, I said one thing) is the looks that the public gives this car. Smiles, waves, thumbs-up and such still makes me smile. I also park my car in public parking lots and don't worry about the car being molested--it gets alot of respect.

The history and heritage of what the originals accomplished and meant to the automotive world, combined with the nostalgia of driving a stark beast of a car, before the creature comforts of today's modern automobiles took the true essence out of driving.

Plus, the curvy lines, fat tires, and loud-a$$ sidepipes, which all fit together into what I consider to be the ultimate experience, only bested by sex.

Call it what you will, I will just say the whole package. Small car, unmistakeable lines, raw power, "interesting" handling characteristics, more fun than a barrel of monkeys, appeal, that special sound. I could go on and on.

Oh yea, and the Chevy guys just hate them, especially the Vette owners, I really like that.

Is that why I'm rebelling against my dad? He's a Corvette man ('57, '65, '69. and '94) and HATES fords. And I love the Cobra (even if I don't have one yet).

It is the whole package, but I had to break it down in this order...
1. Looks (all angles)
2. performance
3. sound
4. The attention you get

I'd be happy with the car if it had a 4cyl in it. Of course it would have to be a 300-400whp turbo'd 4cyl.

The kick in the ass that's directly connected to the loud pedal....!

Like Jesse James said on one recent episode of "Monster Garage", "If you can't hear it before you see it...what's the point?"

I could go on....

...and on.....

...and on.
