Jamo, Ron, i respectfully ask that you close or "lock" this thread now. I sat for an hour thinking about my original thoughts before i clicked the send key.
I have no wish to cause Bill or others any more aggravation or anguish. We are all one family, after all, and when one is having trouble or pain, then in some sense we all do. Like any family does.
So please consider locking this thread.

I agree with Hal
Hal,
I must also agree with you
In life, too often we judge our fellow man with haste. I have been guilty "before" of telling people what to do. I have tried to be more humble, and can only suggest that we all learn from this.
Eric
PS Hal, really, slow down. No more racing on city streets. What are you thinking anyway?

Hal,
I sat here this morning and had to think before posting this response, not as long as you must have to post yours, but think about it and research it I did. What you might have called abrupt, or "morality Policing", I called shutting down a potentially hazardous thread(in one forum it worked, in the other it did not), or keeping the can of worms closed(so to speak). The person in question posted the same thing, quite rapidly, in two separate areas of the forum. First in the FFR sub forum Here , then when he posted it to all talk Cobra HERE I felt that he was not looking for feedback, but for stirring the pot. If that was not the case, then it's my fault and I accept the blame in it's entirety. However, as you can see from the original posting vs the all talk posting, the people who viewed my response thought it was appropriately written. Now you decide that it is not, write your own innuendo laced thread, and have everyone else blow things out of proportion. At one time you accused me of chasing you off this forum, well my friend, that shoe is on the other foot now. So, you have tried to play the devil, and the saint all in the same thread, while some will look at my post here with malice, others will see what your true intent was, as I, and several others have.
Now, with that said, we are both adults, we can agree to disagree on many subjects, but when it gets personal, then something has gone horribly wrong. When one person then sets his own morality on that of the person he is criticizing is a double standard I want no part of.
Now, with all of that said and out of my head, I have to ask, in Rons new thread about setting up the FAQ, how many of those who cast a negative light here have offered to step up to the plate and assist in it's design and content??????My history here on CC in regards to assisting others, both on and off the forum speaks for itself. My give far outweighs my take in all aspects of life........................
I'm done. Let the rest of the chips fall where they may.
Bill S.

Bill....point taken, well said.
Your past contributions are not in dispute. No one...repeat.. no one should feel they are being driven away from the forum. Hal's anecdote became an issue, and got traction.
It became personal too quickly, and that's not good. It became 'sport' and that, too, is not good.
I think all has been said and that the topic should close.
If the FAQ project gets done, then we have made lemonade out of this lemon.

mrmustang -
Why do you think you need to "shut down a potentially hazardous" thread?
You aren't a moderator here.
"Potentially hazardous?" Give me a break.

Pat,
Just look at what the thread has caused here over the past few days. Just look at the way my simple comment was blown way out of proportion. Then look at yourself in the mirror and say "gee, did I just post that".
As for the wording, perhaps instead of using the words "shut down", I should have used the word "defused" instead......

Bill,
I don't think that the ortiginal thread would have caused as much of a problem as your reponse to it, actually.
It just seems to me - and apparently a lot of other people, that you tend to insert yourself into a lot of situations as an amateur moderator (Ron and Jamo - you are getting paid, aren't you? Turk did ) .
I don't like it.
I particularly don't like it when you do it AND you are an advertiser on this site.
I prefer the mrmustang who is the expert on all things that have to do with buying and selling a Cobra or Mustang.
You DO have a lot of valuable advice that many of us share in - thank you for that.

Pat,
As a group of "A" type personalities on this web site and forum, we do not have to agree or disagree with everything another person posts. That in my book is called "agreeing to disagree". By dropping things to a personal level, it not only does you and I a disservice, but every other end user and lurker on this web site. As for my being an advertiser here as well as a member, I was a member of this site long before I became the owner of a fledgling business. Should I now stop posting as an end user because I chose to spend the money and advertise here as a business also? What are you trying to say by your posting above? I have yet to fully understand it, that, and the reason you bring it up at all..
Sincerely,
Bill S.

Bill,
I think it got personal when you told the original poster to do a search. If you hadn't said anything then either someone else would have helped out or the thread would have died.
Personally, I find some of your statements to be rather arrogant. But since I'm considered a world class arrogant SOB myself I don't take offense. Others do.
Let the moderators do their job. If you want to be helpful that's great, otherwise don't hit the submit button.

Hey Johnnie...some other day. I was trying to keep the thread lighthearted. Bill got the humor, and that's what mattered.
As I also noted in that post, we're all a$$holes at times...

Jamo,
I understand what you were trying to do, but in my opinion it did not gel with what Ron was trying to accomplish.
Asshole? ...yeah, I got one and I am one. Have known it for years.

Rick,
I just usually lurk here and do my posting on FFCobra. I didn't realize there was a posting threshold in which you could express your opinion. I guess it must be around 2000, huh? I am very familiar with Bill and have even purchased stuff from him. It doesn't mean I have to like everything he says or does.

You're assolutely correct. As I said publically at the other place, my bad for not pulling Bill's toon myself and editing my own post...left Ron to do the dirty work and catch grief. Told Ron that privately as well.
That being said, let's move forward with the FAQ project so we can "nicely" direct newbies to basic info. Hal's comments were well taken, and Bill's explanation underscores the frustration we all go through at times. So...
...time to move on. finis
