Yeah I know I ain't nobody's bargain, But hell a little touchup, and some paint...
I am pretty sure that bring in a partially finished car for sale here, is vastly more difficult tha it was for CS back in the mid '60's. Maybe in those days, not much more than a phone call, and some money wired to an account. Now everybody is going to be looking over your shoulder, and perhaps cause mischief.
Probably easier said than done.

If Lubinsky is involved, it will not pass the "Smell" test. Do a search, see what I have posted before. There will be no factory on Malta and CS and Lubinsky are circling each other, like porcupines before mating, trying to figure out how to BONE the other party.
And SAI loves that "PR Newswire" because otherwise the press releases would get the attention that day old fish wrapping receives.
All of the PR in the world will not build cars...
Sorry, but I must tell the truth!!
Old news...wait two months and see if anything has changed.

You know guys, after recently selling my SPF and now trying to decide which cobra to buy next, I'll have to say that because of all of the what I will call bullsh!t surrounding the Shelby marque because of their cars being built here and there and maybe over there, I am more inclined to not even put them on my list of possibilities.
Maybe I'm reading more into this than I should, although when you are contemplating spending big $$$$$ these thoughts do go through your mind after reading everything that has been said. Don't get me wrong, I love CC, but maybe thats one of the problems with hanging out on this site.....you read way too much sh!it that you begin to wonder what is real and what is not real......what is truth and what is bullsh!t. I think this adds up to very bad PR for Shelby.
I guess I'm just not the kind of buyer who will rush out and stroke a check to just any manufacturer without knowing all of the details.
This whole Shelby press, good or bad, mumbo-jumbo bothers the sh!it out of me.
Just the opinion of a very, very serious cobra buyer who values his money and likes to make a wise purchase.
I concur with your thoughts. It is difficult to truly find the truth about a Cobra unless you are able to exam in person.
That is one of the primary drivers that convinced me to spend considerably more than I wanted to on a Cobra purcahse. I selected SPF because I knew exactly what I was getting. I saw it , drove it (3 times), called current openers and read the advice here. Then and only then did I fall in love with it. I followed the same logic when I selected Eric to build my engine. Stability and reputation is key in this business.
There is no question SAI has "the" legacy name in the Cobra business. Yet from a consumer standpoint how could support a company right now who appears to lack direction and a clear vision? It is a public relation nightmare.
I know there are other great replica manufactures out there and I hope SAI all the best. I would just be very reluctant to buy one until they consistently prove their stability, product quality and price /value relationship.
Today, if your product doesn't perform well the brand name is meaningless. Brands are only desirable if they deliver and or exceed the consumer's expectation. Otherwise, the we try harder group will and I think already did sneak up and kick arse.
Competition bread excellence. God Bless the Untied States of America. DAMN right!
why are some cobra owners so defensive ? I swear it is a broken record,if these people found the cure for aids, cancer and the common cold, there will be some few with unknown insecurites, and no monetary interest ,take the time to attack or bash, and post after post of real problems/questions,,no one responds,,blows my mind,,Tim

Thanks for listening

I know how you feel. I joined here only after buying my Cobra, and was pretty bummed out after a month or two. The stuff you learn here only slightly outweighs the negative BS, from surprisingly viscious people, for something that is supposed to be FUN, and a hobby.
Fortunately, 99.999% of the world has never heard of CC, and to those people, there will always be only one manufacturer of a Shelby 427 Cobra. Shelby. That is why those people will pay $145,000 for a Shelby and $30,000 for a very nice Contemporary in a side by side comparison situation at Barrett- Jackson.
Fire away bashers. I have learned to not care.

Face it gentleman, even if this thing goes through and the car is built I don't think there are very many of us that can step up to the counter and put our dollar down--some of us yes--most of us no--if we had that much "disposable income" we'd all be driving Shelbys or Kirkhams w/ bb 427so, instead of our Uniques, or FFrs, or Eras, or whatever other make right now.
So BFD ain't gonna change squat in the Cobra biz(unless they sell a turnkey minus for around $25K)--those that can afford them will buy them, and have "bragging" rights --those that can't will purchase something else, build it, and be just as happy.
Why get your shorts in a wad because of a news release? That may or may not come to fruition.
