Default Car's worth?

How much realistically would my car be worth. Was thinking about the insurance on it.

406hp sb Mopar/4 speed, high back buckets, otherwise run of the mill car.

Think in terms of replacement cost, which may be different than what your car is "worth".

Being as your car is used, I would think "used Cobra" prices would then be the target.

Shell Valley is a good middle of the road car, Mopar is cool but not a "great" sales point. Like wise the high backs, some might PREFER them, I suspect most won't. Hows the paint? Got any chrome? IRS adds a bunch to the cost. Got cool wheels or just some basic "Ford" units.

Search for cars you would be willing to buy if you had to replace yours. THATS what your car is worth.

These days $30K will buy a pretty decent "middle of the road" replica. There will always be some exceptional deal available. A GREAT replica for $20K perhaps? I would NOT use one like that to compare values too. When you need to replace yours you will need to buy whatever the market has RIGHT NOW at fair market value.

Red face Re: Car's worth?

I highly suggest you list all the details of the car if your want us to place some type of value on your car. List the details of the drivetrain, the suspension, interior condition, exterior condition and anything else you can think of. I've seen Shell Valley Cobra worth not much more than $15,000, and I've seen some worth every bit of $35,000-$45,000 (but not in todays market)..........Finally, this is not such thing as "run of the mill" when your talking about a hand built Cobra replica....As I tell everyone I deal with, it's all in the details..................

Will await your highly detailed and accurate response, and we'll go from there.

That's about what I thought too Evan. Just wanted to make sure the insurance co was playing fair, and I think they are. As far as replacement cost, they wanted an agreed upon value of 40k based on replacing it with one of similar value. I only have about 18k in it mostly because of given motor parts from PDQ's race program with my cousin. A lot of the fab work was done at greatly reduced rates. Sometimes it helps with who you know.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I just meant from what I have seen this is a very average Cobra as far as build and fit and finish. I know the engine is a minus for resale, but insured valuse it doesn't make that much difference.

Has the single roll bar, no front bumper, just over riders. Aluminum gas tank. Otherwise the regular stuff from the factory. It has a 14" Grant leather wheel instead of the larger wood wheel.
