Tim, with regard to last Saturday, I'm sure we probably converted some people in the Austin area to Cobra fans. When we were headed back home on Saturday afternoon we took a road that runs out of Wimberley and eventually connects to another that runs into Blanco. It's all ranch country out there and almost totally deserted. At one point we came over a hill and there was a pickup sitting on the other side of a ranch fence, with a man and two boys doing some fence work. Looked kinda like a rancher and his sons. Anyhow, they must have heard us coming up the hill because they were all staring at the slabside as I went past. I watched in the mirror for their reaction as the GT40 went by, and there was a whole of pointing going on. Probably the last thing they expected to see, and hopefully a neat memory for them--

Bob, I bet that made their day to see the slabside and GT40 zoom by. Heck....I had been looking at them for two days and I flipped my lid when I saw them drive by after I pulled off the road Saturday morning.

Kind words...
...coming from the owner of the one and only Hi-Tech 3002 replica. I know what you mean, as I almost drove off the road when I saw your car parked on the side.

I saw McLalen F1 6 years ago in traffic jam (London/UK) during heavy rain falling.

Snakeeyes and Pat. That was indeed 5 corners and still is. I live in Mequon, and I'm not sure if it's the same spot that used to have the A&W, but there is a fairly new 50's style drive in there right now, owned by the local Harley dealer in Thiensville that has pretty good cruise nights in the summer.

ride experience
I've been fortunate to see quite a few uniqe rides up close and personal in the bidders area of Barrett Jackson. Outside of that I've taken a few rides in a cpla authentic '69 Yenko Camaros. Outside of the cobra, the lumpy cam in that beast is unrivaled in my mind. In particular, know of a 1 of 2 gold, test mule '69 Yenkos. sorry...know there chevy's but big blocks kick ass.
Here in Atlanta you have Murcielagos, a Gallardo, assorted Ferrari's, DB7's etc. I have yet to see an Enzo but got up and close and personal to a Ferrari GTO last year.
For those getting a GT 40, I will PAY good money for you to take me for a spin.
regards,
jon

Awesome stories fellas. Keep 'em coming.
For now, the McLarens and Enzos are like the holy grail of car watching. The shot of the Enzo in the rearview mirror in Colorado was pretty great. I've got to agree with CowtownCobra that folks who put those things out on the road are to be both envied and commended.
The Vector, XJ220 and BMW M1 get points for rarity. I must argue with Excelguru that a fiero without a headlamp stuck in the up position is quite obviously a "replica" fiero, not real.
Anyone ever seen a Bugatti (any kind) on the road?

Yup-yup. I see a lot of Ferrari's and exotics around here. Guess it's all the Rap stars, Sports stars, and Coca Cola execs in town or something. I can appreciate one, but I don't have a clue what "type" I'm looking at when they pass by. They usually wave (when I'm in the Cobra) .. and I usually wave back.
