NYS Registration
Placed my first call to the DMV inquiring how to register my cobra. As is always the case when dealing with NY DMV, nothing is easy. One problem after another. Cars a couple months away yet (in finaly stages of assembly in Las Vegas) and was wondering if any fellow New Yorkers can enlighten me as to the process, perhaps with some suggestions on how to get around their endless rules.

First off, I would not have posted this under "parts wanted", but since you did, I guess I need to answer it here, instead of under the "All Talk" sub forum

Although I am "a few months away" ( ) from the process, as I understand it, the key notes beyond what Bill has listed are:
- (again) emissions testing based on documented year of engine; pre-67 only requires PCV valve.
- functional bumpers, no quick jacks.
- functional defrosters
- all lights and lenses DOT

According to DMV equipment list, back-up lights required for "69 and newer".
Does anyone know if the originsl front and rear hoop bumpers are acceptable.?
Hoe about a heat gun attached to the dash mounted mirror as a defroster? like I'm really going to drive in the winter!
DOT lens only or the entire fixture?

The car gets registered as the year it was built.
I think just overriders are all that's required.
I believe it is anything that blows hot air on the windscreen.
DOT lenses.

Ron,
The reason just over riders won't pass is the Bumper has to be atleast 18" off the ground and you need the height of the top bar on the hoop to make it. Ill let Anyone thats close to the Albany area use mine for the registration process. It only take a second to pull them off
Greg

Greg...thx for the clarification.... then a hoop it shall be.
...I still have a while to go before I run the gauntlet.
Hopefully, all us NY'ers are contacting the Albany reps about the recurring bill for SCV's

Ron - take it you've been there. How about the defroster? Will my idea of a dash mounted heat gun work? My daughter goes to school in Albany so perhaps you can email (mancusog@rl.af.mil) me directly with phone no. etc.
