Tonneau cover

Looking for a little advice. Does anyone sell a tonneau to cover the cockpit area to fit a Lone Star 427? Will I have to have one made? How many and what is the suggested spacing for the studs or snaps? Which are better studs or snaps? Thanks for your time in advance.

Hi Bob,

There have been a few threads on the tonneau topic in the past. I think the general consensus is that you get a better fit and a better deal by going to your local upholstery shop. Roll-over hoops and other unique characteristics support the custom approach. Studs or "lift-dots" are more correct, and I think they look better.

Oh yeah. Use a stayfast or stayfast "G" canvas that's used for convertible tops. They're durable and attractive.

Bob: Think long and hard about a tonneau cover. If you REALLY plan to use it often, then by all means go ahead and get one. BUT if you might only use it once on a while, when the tonneau is not in place, you still have to look at all the "Lift-the-Dot" posts (or snaps) sticking up on the dash, on the doors, and all around the rear of the cockpit. The first time you are wiping down your car, and you catch a fingernail or fleshy part of your hand on one of those lil' studs, and you start to bleed like a stuck pig, (and believe me, it hurts like HELL!) you will wish you never put them on. They ARE worth it, IF you plan on using the tonneau often.
