Ever hit a bird with your Cobra?

Have hit many birds with everything from my dirt bike to a maxivan, but had not hit a bird in 10 years in the Cobra until I hit a pigeon cruising through town. Hit on the left headlight. Glad it wasn't a bit higher.

Never Have hit anything with the Cobra. Last summer coming home from a cruise night had a bull moose run along side the Cobra. Being the prudent person I am, I stopped and let him go first. I guess if I timed it right I could have gone between his legs.

Dumb squirel ran a long the passager side for 50' then hug a left under the rear tire.

Don't think he made it, even with the w-i-d-e footprint of the Goodyears.

Actually, last week a little one went right into that big ol oval up front. The two cooling fans chopped up the sumb!tch real nice.

I was "flying" on a rally last year, across highway 166. This big crow-looking bird swooped across from the right side into the front of the car. I was concerned that it might be stuck in the radiator. Fortunately, it hit right next to the bumper. It scratched the paint pretty good, but no other damage.

Never anything in a Cobra, but I did hit at bird going 140 in an MR2, and killed 2 deer with my tractor (really).

Had a Robin bounce of my helmet at about 80mph while on the bike one day, felt like someone tossed a bowling ball at me!
I have no idea how I managed to not crash as I was definately seeing stars for a couple of seconds . There was a huge chip in the helmet from where the beak(I assume) hit right on the forehead above the visor . the visor was also cracked, this is the main reason you will never catch me wearing anything but a fullface helmet.

I fail to understand why anyone would even think about hitting a "bird" with your car.

Took a Starling in the chest on the dirt bike and I agree about the full face protection, can't imagine taking one in the head. Though I did take a June bug in the sunglasses which broke the lens. A good full face for the street and a good MX for the dirt.

A friend hit a bird at 110 with the inside of the C pillar. With the windows open, and it was my car. The rear seat passengers were NOT happy.

Always afraid I will get an owl or something at night with the Cobra.

I've had 2 doves get scooped up by the front "grille" opening. Both times I had to spend time plucking feathers out of the radiator fins and straightening the fins. I also smoked a bat mid-sternum once while on a motorcycle. That made an impressive mess.

Jim, I want to know how you got an MR2 to do 140mph?? You must have been in an MKII turbo, downhill in a hurricane. My current '85 spins 4000rpm at 80mph. Must have been a frightening ride at those speeds.

Jamo, did you really have one in the big opening up front? How much of a mess did that make??

The story goes that the owner of one of the only CSX3... series Cobras in Australia had just commissioned a complete restoration of the vehicle. His first drive ended up with a crow through the windscreen and a trip back to the resto shop.

Yup. Not all that bad. The fans really did chop up the little sucker good, so no bent fins to the radiator. One fan blade did get a little bent, but that was easily fixed. Hosed 80% of the remains right outta there.

A friend, in his Cobra driving right behind me one night, hit a telephone pole that was knocked down by someone going in the other direction...it tore up his fender pretty badly. It could have been worse though.

My wife was driving in her first-ever Open Track session on P.I.R., I'm in the passenger seat trying not to look too nervous, hammering down the straightaway... when I see outta the side of my helmet this gigantic freakin' Pteradactyl flying low, flying slow...!!

Portland Internat'l Raceway is built on wetlands (!?) and it was a Great Blue Heron slowly completing takeoff and well before cruising altitude.
I thought we were "gonners"- it looked so big, it woulda crashed thru the windscreen and taken both of us out!!
Fortunately, he just majestically kept to his 5% climb... and we missed him by a good 8 feet!
Can you imagine the headlines? (Can you imagine the track insurance after that??

Well, I guess I get bragging rights if you can call it that..About 10 years ago coming home from poker at around midnight, I came over a sharp rise in my road. On my left was a deer just standing there. I was going about 50 mph. hit the brakes hard and would have had no problem if the deer had not ran right in front of me.
Hit it and put it right over my car. I cant say enough about how tuff that Shell Valley nose is. ( Hope The SPF is as good.) It knocked the right headlite into the bucket But did not crack the body at all. That car did not have abumper on it, and I suspect a bumper would have done more damage than the deer. Im now a slower driver at night. Im also thankful that the deer went over the windshield and not thru it.
