Default Dual oil filters...

Do any of you use dual oil filters? How are they connected, one filter feeds the other one? Do you use the same filter on both, or does the setup require a "coarse" and a "fine" filter to work properly.

Lastly, heve you ever cut open the filters to see what was trapped by each.

Very curious to know if they have any advantage over a single filter. Especially with the frequent oil changes most do.

Thumbs up

Definitely overkill. You have to be sure to drill out the passage so that they run in parallel and not in a series. And yes, you use the same size filters. Look in my gallery and you will see my set up.

What you are really doing is providing more filtering area thru the same in and out ports without restricting the flow or pressure.

I have dual filters and other than the crappy seal due to poorly machined filter mount it works great. I guess you get more filtering area and the extra filter gives close to another quart of oil capacity.

One filter shoudl be fine for most applications but I do run some road course running and I wanted as much oil as possible. I have now put in a Canton 9quart road race oil pan.

aumoore--

With a 9 quart pan and 2 oil filters (and a cooler?) an oil change must cost as much as a full gas tank does these days
