The floats only weigh 25.5 grams so it doesn't take much pressure to overcome their ability to close the needle and shut down the fuel stream. EFI pumps run a minimum of 35 psi, and some up to as much as 100 psi (Mercedes). A fuel return line, however, is always a good idea, even with a standard electric or mechanical pump.
I especially like Terry K's idea of the on/off switch that is independent of the ignition. I had that set up in an old Corvette years ago. Makes for a nice security device, as well.
