I now own the pale blue and orange Cobra that Ants used to own. (It has been ten years now Ants).

Originally when I bought the car I didnt like the colours, just a bit too different, and lacked some class I thought.

I have been pondering the decision of what colour to paint the car for years, and havnt come up with one that is better. My car has been a racecar for almost 15 years now, in the same colours. It has a bit of history now, and is known as 'The Gulf Cobra' so, I am hesitant to change it now.

Take a look at my Images Archive. I love the colours now!

Cheers.

Default Colour

Bevan,

I love the colour of the Gulf car, and even if at first it doesnt appeal, it certainly grows on you. My golly its been 10 years since I sold the car.

I am confused on colours but its a long way off yet that the decision has to be made.

This is not in order of preference

1. Dark BRG is where I am leaning to but it wont be flamboyant at all but will look cool with the wheels and chrome parts plus the car will look smaller with a dark colour!

2. Silver I love but ..............!
3. Red ...........NO
4. Metallic blue ala Gumball Rally.........?????
5. Metallic Brown or Burgundy...........no
6. White with blue stripes...........not to bad
7. Gulf colours.............terrific, but my car is more of a road car!
8. Black always looks good if clean!
9. Bullit Mustang metallic green, with or without stripes.
10. Yellow NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think BRG without stripes or with.........????
As mentioned there are some nice blues out there in keeping with Fords input!

At first I thought black would be it for me...then I thought some more and blue started sounding pretty good. After a few days of blue I thought that blue with white stripes would be the ticket. Then I though, no, black is definitely it. After a few more days I saw an absolutely fantastic blue that was me. About a week after that I saw a red Cobra that was absolutely fantastic! Then I saw a really subdued blue that took my breath away...so understated! Another few days went by and I thought that maybe I should just stick with one of the original colors and Rangoon Red was it!! Then I spoke to Peter at ERA who told me that Rangoon Red was a really horrible color and that most people who paint their cars that color repaint them something else in a short time. So then I thought black was looking pretty good. Then my buddy got his ERA and painted it black. Damn. Blue was it then.

After doing this for the 4 months that I waited for my car I was no closer to choosing. The car arrived and I took it to the bodyshop to get painted and the painter asked me what color I wanted.

I told him I couldn't decide and that I was going to leave that up to him. I meant it and left.

He painted it Ferrari Red with no stripes - I liked it. See gallery.

My Kirkham is a different story - I am not going through that bs again. I am not painting it.

I saw Pat's KMP and loved it. I'm painting mine the same color.
