Hi slithering,
I'm like 25% or so of the male population - slightly colorblind
So when it came time to pick the color, those in attendance said the color of my Expedition, Laser Red, would look good. So I chose that along with a very white stripe.
I get a lotta compliments
See my gallery for some idea of the results. It looks better in person!
Regards,
Tom

I remember reading a comment in a magazine a while back from Shelby on the blue cobra thing, it went something like this...
red-italian, green-english (british?),blue-amuricun

ERA #647 is close to British Racing Green; but nicer... (secret formula)
She'll have the chrome bumpers front and back and stray from the original street look only with the hood scoop. Side Pipes are black.
Checking out the electrical this weekend and then the motor/trans goes in.
Hopefully, I'm on the road by May....

Before I purchased my Cobra I saw alot of different blue's and reds that looked great but wanted a different look, I came across a silver with black stripes and black side pipes and knew I found my combination.

Great topic. I still haven't decided on a color. I am leaning toward the dark red metallic on the 2003 Escalade and CTS. The color is deep and rich red but the metallic is subdued. Haven't decided on stripes or not. Will probably wait on the stripe decision until the main color is final.

I just sort of sat back and let it color itself.

I also wanted something a little different. I saw a BDR in pewter w/ charcoal stripes at Anthem Motors and fell in love with it. A club member in Mesa, AZ has Caddy Copper, very sharp and unique. The titanium w/ black is way cool too. If you into green you might look at the Lexus dark green. And how about that orange car on the Shell Valley ad?

When we bought our SPF I wanted something different than the typical blue, red, black, silver, we bought a Wimbleton white with blue stripes---though the blue/white stripes was my favorite.
Seemed like every replica I saw was either blue or red w/ white stripes-----
It was different---stood out from the crowd---at the Fling last year I think I only saw 6 cars that were white out of almost 300.
Would be easy to find in a crowd of "snakes"

Thanks for everyones replies, there's a lot of good useable info here! I'm leaning towards black, no stripe. My wife wants silver with black stripes, that sounds nice too. Decisions, decisions...

Truth be known, if I ever paint it, it'll likely be black. I must say Evan's car always looked good to me.

I saw an add for a silver Stallion in a magazine when I was a kid and always thought that would be the color for me. But the wife and I checked out other Cobras and finally agreed that something in the burgandy range would be our choice. When we went to PMS, they had a nearly completed burgandy car that looked great. But they said "If you like that, then come look at this...". They had a body painted in a deep candy apple red with phantom stripes and it was all she wrote.
There are enough Cobras out there that you can see a lot of paint schemes with the various combinations of chrome or black components that you can get a good idea of what's tickling your fancy. Good luck in your quest!

Pick colors that YOU like. Don't be talked into whats trendy today. I picked a lite 64 corvette blue with dark blue 2000 corvette stripes. Why? Because I like it that way.

I struggled for the better part of six months trying to choose between silver and titanium. Then I happened to read just the right thing at the right time; a comment on this site pointed out that "titanium looks a lot like brushed aluminum." I hadn't thought the two together before reading this note but it was exactly the insight I needed to come to a decision.

In 1967 I was a 16-year old idiot watching my rear-view for the CHP at 80 MPH on the freeway when an original Cobra blew past me doing at LEAST 120.
It was dark blue with white stripes.
The dude even wore a long, white scarf. Jeez.
I said, "Self, one day you will own a Cobra."
I'm 53 now and BDR #139 is Indigo blue with white stripes, TBD.
No white scarf. Cammo boonie hat, I earned it.

Should be easy to find, twin roll bars. My college girl insisted.

Slithering,
Take a look at the Superformance for sale on Cobra Country. The color is called Autumn Mica. Pretty sharp color combination.
And no that's not my car for sale

Paint
Well!
When I was 10 years old in 1965, I bought a Road & Track magazine, it had a silver 427 road going AC Cobra pictured by a field of golden coloured grain, this reflected off the silver and what a magic colour!!
In the flesh unless its an alloy body version I dont like them in silver, and I am not going to park by a field of grain to get the desired contrast, plus light colours make them look bigger - in my opinion!
My first Cobra was painted in guardsman blue with white stripes, the second in Gulf oil company colours of light duck egg blue with an orange stripe(s), now those cars are gone, this car may be dark BRG with no stripes. I have considered the Bullit Mustang colour of Steve McQueen I think its Highland Green I have it somewhere. But this is still a major decision to make and I dont really like green that much, but I want the car to look conservative on the track and fix up a few of the stripey racers.
Another nice colour is the blue of the Gumball Rally Cobra, I must get the video and watch it!
Are you more confused now, because I am!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
I picked up a auto paint book at my local industial paint supply shop, PPG. I found a color in it called "Blackberry Pearlcoat". Has anyone seen it, swatches don't always tell the truth. God I hate making these decisions...where's my Prozac.
