Default Are doors nessesary on a cobra?

I mostly just step over the side. In an effort to keep the $10K Cobra on buget I'm thinking of molding the body with solid doors.This will also allow Nascar style door bars in the sides for crash protection. Comments?

I step over the doors when I get in the Cobra when it's in the trailer. Not a problem, also an added benefit would be the elimination of the bodywork to get the gaps right. By the way, you still condiereing moving south? As an ex- Pa person, I would be happy to show you around.

If you can master the James Dean / Elvis "hop over the door" move, then I say forget opening doors. I've been practicing in the privacy of my own garage all winter, but still haven't quite got it...

If its just for the track no doors would be fine.
On the street may be another issue. Are your passangers going to want to step over ??? Think about the lady in your life I doubt she'll be too happy about it in a skirt on a dinner date.

The other street issue that comes to mind are saftey laws. I would check your states inspection laws.

Just my 2 cents.

The great thing about these cars is, ITS YOUR CAR. do it up your way and enjoy it.

Keep jumping over the doors like Batman until you accidentally scuff the leading edge of it, then it's not much fun anymore. You could just remove the doors altogether like a Jeep CJ 5!
I really don't have much faith in any side impact crash bar protection in a Cobra when you take into consideration other automobile bumper heights and the fact that for the most part a Cobra drivers whole upper torso is higher than the door. Next time out take notice the height of other cars in relation to yours and you will realize that if you were unlucky enough to be involved in a side impact collision the other cars bumper will most likely hit you in the shoulder. I drive the Cobra with the same mindset as riding a motorcycle...any accident could be fatal so I must be super attentive while driving....OR...just try not to think about it

The older I get the more mandatory the doors are. Heck, my car has lockable outside door handles. I can't help thinking that the solid doors would effect resale, but they would be o.k. for a spec racer sort of car, I would think.
