Default 40th Anniv 289

It took 18 months, but I got the keys to CSX8004 last month. All this attention is going to take some getting used to. California backroads, here we come, kickin and grinnin. From what I've read, I think I can say "yes, its real. no, its not one of the originals" My SB100 experience actually went pretty OK. DMV to CHP to BAR back to DMV, inspections, exemptions, MSO, invoices, documents and everybody acting like this was the first time they heard of SB100. Things seemed to go smoother when I began to refer to 8004 as "kind of a kit car that I didn't actually build myself" Anyway, now were plated (CSX8004), the weather is nice and its time to hit the road.

You have about 50 CSX47XX owners-to-be green with envy. You better enjoy your first ride about 10x more than mine you SOB

Car looks great!

Serendip,

Is that blue the most gorgeous color or what? I absolutely still drool over it. I painted one of my projects the same color. Had a hot rod guy show up yesterday and he was drooling too when he looked at it. You in the wine biz by chance based on the pic?

With 6 posts in 2 years, I'm not a real online guy; but I'll try to answer: xk's unlimited in san luis obispo did the build up: Ford 302 GT crate engine; Tremec 5 speed. Color is "40th Anniv. Blue" which I was told was a close approximation of the Guardsman Blue, but has a formula that can be replicated. Interior is black, leather, special guages and placques noting 40th anniv. Leafspring, fiberglass body w stainless in the wheel wells. The picture was taken about 5 miles outside of San Luis Obispo on the "maiden voyage" and was just a good place to turn around. I have a picture of the body right after paint, but I cant figure out how to attach a photo to a repy. Not understanding the csx47xx green with envy comment???

All I meant was that there are a bunch of people with Shelby 427's (4000 series) who were wishing their car was done. Myself included!

I was told that most of the 40th anniv cars were being ordered as 427's and when I went down to Las Vegas interested in the 289 street car, I think there was interest on their part in getting one out. I liked the clean look of the 289 and was basically going on the assumption that 350 hp +/- would be plenty for the weight.

Can pics be added to post replys?

Instead of using the Post Reply Quick-Window...go to the button at the lower right of the last post...

That will let you create a reply with a picture attached.

...Good luck with the car... it looks very nice!

Part of the paint "cure" is very elaborate, i found out; they set the body outside on sawhorses.

Serendip:
Nice car! Have fun but be careful.
What's the name of the winery in the background of the first pic? We'll be up in Paso Robles next month for their annual wine fest. We attend every year.

Careful is my middle name (actually it is Ashton, but thats a whole nother story). The winery? I have no clue. This is the place where we turned around, Dave Light from XK's got out and I got in. XK's did a good job; very professional. I would recommend them.
i was getting in to the first Cobra I had ever driven, and i hoped I didn't set a worlds record for stacking up a classic. Now52 and the plan is to put on some more miles and age gracefully along with 8004. 61 Corvette for 25+ years; wife's only request (demand) was "no cars in the driveway". So I put in a buddy lift and this picture is "the girls in bunkbeds".

I thought it was on bottom since it is getting more use. Of course if we were in Prison, the guy on the Bottom bunk is more dominant, much like this situation!
