Oversized rivot-on hoodscoop
Who sells an oversized rivot-on hoodscoop? I need more room for my high-rise induction system and frankly I like the rivot-on look

Tried rivets initially, but found that they caused a star effect on the glass - no problem for you with aluminium body.
Have you seen the bolts used with the button heads.
Assuming you are using an aluminium scoop etc. try using stainless button head bolts with the hex (Allen head)
You do say your want the rivets but thought the other may be an option with the larger scoop may be worth a comparison. After using them I think they look a little better than the rivets.
Cheers
Bernie

I found this one in 10 seconds flat: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33646
There's lots of them on eBay. I bought mine through Ron Butler, 805-649-6000.
It will be hard to find one higher than the stock Cobra scoop that looks right.
Good Luck,
Paul

Here's the one I choose but I had it molded in to the hood but came with a flange if you want to rivet it on.

bremillard,
Go to www.up22.com and pick up the 57 Thunderbird NASCAR hood scoop that looks okay in this case and was used by team Shelby on a few cars in the "old days"
It's $25.00 and 3.5" high and was the molder's inspiration for the AC/SC hood scoops in the beginning.

Grumpy - That's the one on my car above - a '57 Thunderbird 3.5" tall scoop from that same group. Thanks for the history, now I can tell people with a clear conscious that it's original - somewhat! Cool!
COMPUTERWORKS - Do you have any pictures of this unusual combination in your archives and/or know anything about this as Grumpy has stated?

Cracker,
There are various race photos of many 289 Competition cars sporting this scoop, but the 427's were CSX3006 (at Riverside), CSX3137, and CSX3035, in various racing shots in 1965/66.

Hoodscoop
Grumpy and all,
I actually have one of these scoops that I bought from Unlimited but as usual for Unlimited products the quality is inferior in that the mounting flange is curled up all the way around the scoop preventing me from bolting it on. I can and probably will cut the mounting flange mostly off and mold it into the hood. I really wanted the bolt-on look but after seeing some pictures of this scoop molded on I think this looks good as well. Thanks to all, Bob

bremillard,
I too had that funky flange but my install was way too expensive at $1,100 for a $25 scoop! The good thing is it is molded in using carbon fiber so it isn't going anywhere no matter how fast I go which was important to me. Now I won't be the only B.S.'er (BIG SCOOP'ER) around here - I was enjoying it but thanks to this thread I've gained insight to how I can claim originality on the basis that my/our scoop raced!!! I'm glad I don't have one of those little/small thingie's up there! Cool!
