Hankook tyres ???
I am at the stage where I now need new tyres and have been having trouble finding them in a size to suite my Cobra.
I have found Hankook tyres in the required size so the question is, anyone have any experiance with Hankook tyres.
The sizes are 215/70R15H front and 275/60R15H rear.
Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan,
You may want to call Tire Rack and ask them. I've never really seen them discussed here, or on a Cobra before. I believe they are more of a budget tire maker, but I'm not sure.

Hankook has moved "upmarket" and in fact are OEM on several models of Ford trucks...

I have a close friend who races Pro Miata in SCCA and Hankook are the required tires in that class. They are a DOT race tire and work very well. He says they are comparable to the Kuhmo DOT race tires he used to run.
I met the Hankook chief tire engineer the other day when my friend was comparison testing tires for Hankook. He was a bright guy and very interested in making improvements based on the testing results. Hankook appears to be moving toward producing very high quality race tires.
I don't know anything about their street tires - or even if they make them.

Bryan,
The 215's are a bit narrow for the front, aren't they? That's why I got excited when I found these 265/50/15 Maxxis Marauders. There's a matching 295/50/15 (or the 275/60/15) for the rear. They're H rated, too.
Unless someone beats me to these and makes a bad report, or, I find something better, this will be my next tire.
Rally on,
Paul

Hankook tires
Bryan- replaced Pirelli P7 tires on 86 911 with Hankook Ventus 104 unidirectional Z rated tires- felt like a new car. Great highway cruising and rain tire. Outstanding handling and would not hesitate to replace my original Dunlop ERA tires with the same if available in size. Cant comment on tire wear yet -not enough miles but were very reasonably priced!. Hope this helps. Bill

Bit the bullet
Thanks to all those that gave me positive feedback and the lack of negative feedback I went ahead and got the new Hankook tyres.
I have only had a short drive but the difference is cheese and chalk. The car handles different and now turns into corners instead of trying to push through them.
I don't know how they will go for wear as the tread compound seems quite soft.
Cheers,
Bryan

Bryan,
Thanks for following up on this. I see from your pictures that you're not afraid to venture onto a racetrack. The 215 seems like a very narrow tire. When faced with the same size choice, I put 275/60/15's on all four rims. My front rims are 8.5 inches wide.
Could you post a picture of your car with the tires?
Paul
