.......how to make a small fortune: Start with a large one and buy one each H.O.C., add 3 years and there you have it.

Anahiem House of Cobras? Woodruff?
......recently an arrest warrant was issued for the owner. Some kind of involvement with the ongoing "Titles Unlimited" invetigation. The Alabama guy was convicted, looks like more coming. At least two other "Cobra" associated business' also have arresst warrants issued for the owners.

Mgilbert,
Grab a Starbucks, do a search on "Titles" and read. It's a long sad saga.

Supposedly the owner is either under indictment or is to be for using "Titles Unlimited".
Any body have the update / correct information?

About 7 years ago I took a trip to HOC to find out more about Cobras. It was the first time I had seen more than 3 in the same place at the same time. Dave Radke, who is not involved with HOC anymore, showed me around and gave me a good first lesson on what to look for when making decision.
It is sad that they are closing under the circumstances in which they do so.

Wow....I actually found this website after seeing a short article in AutoWeek about HOC. What a shame. I think this is the second time in about two years HOC has had to shut down and look for new ownership.

Major yikes...
A bit nervous to see this out there. I gave Dean/HOC a hefty deposit for a 351 stroker (396) and install back at the beginning of the year. As with any Cobra, part delays and part ongoing customization, my install date was pushed out about 60 days or so.
I just found out yesterday that I will have the car on by May 15th and was going to call Dean/Dave on Monday.... It looks like I may be a bit more delayed..... wait 8 months for the Cobra and now this when I am in the short strokes.
Man, I sure hope I can get the $$ back or still have them figure something out to get the engine installed. They seemed like great guys and had a good reputation, so I am hoping for the best. Talk about a possible set back....
Boy, nice way to wind down the evening. I am sure I will sleep well tonight....
Anyone else have any feedback, insight or contact with the HOC crew.....?

I posted this link on XXXXXX sometime ago. The article specifically says arrest warrant(s) HAVE been issued. Didn't think it was appropriate for CC at the time.
http://www.caag.state.ca.us/newsalerts/2004/04-042.htm
"On Friday, Judge Morris also issued arrest warrants for four Californians who sold replicas and helped their customers avoid smog requirements and fraudulently register their cars in California using false documents and forged vehicle identification numbers. Warrants were issued for........."
As this is likely an ON GOING investigation and as the Prosecutor is KNOWN to post and use CC to gather information,,,,,,,, don't stick your foot in your mouth. THINK about it.

Snak Iyz,
Just get car done and register it using SB100 and pay your taxes.
The problem people are having seem to be centered around the state getting shorted on taxes and people using washed titles.
Do it correctly and pay the money and you'll be fine.

Guys...
Backdraft has built my car and the vehicle is already registered SB100. They are just finishing up a few things to the turn-key minus roller down at their dealer in San Diego. All I had left to do after the engine was CHP and Bar.
I was using HOC for the engine and engine install only, primarily becasue of their reputation here is So Cal and they were 20 minutes from my house.
I fully believe in going legal the whole way, including paying the proper taxes.
My only hope is that I do not get screwed out of my deposit (over 5k)..... AND face further delays in getting my engine..... After 8 months I am barley hanging on to wait to get this thing on the road.
Ernie, Thanks for trying to make sure I do not put my foot in my mouth...

Probably be business as usual at HOC for cars all ready being worked on. I wouldn't take a NEW project to them at this time however.

Ernie,
I hope you are correct. I'd hate to see him get stuck in a ball of red tape.

Sound advice. I smelled the same thing happening with a street rod build this year. With one hour notice, I ask them to have everything ready for pickup and said I was coming with my trailer. I'd rather pick it up, take it home, and "wait and see" or have to look for another shop. The red tape to get YOUR car out of there once the place is padlocked will not make for a good time.
