Shell Valley guys please help out a new owner of a used car!
I have just pick up this car that I purchased off of eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2474018180
And it has a few problems.
The car was originally purchased and (I assume he put together also) by:
John Fagerberg
of Lincoln, Ne. 68528
I would like to know where to get some good quality parts for a fair price.
Any help or opinions would be appreciated!
Also, I am looking for a nice street car. I do not care about racing and it does not have look like the original Cobra's either.
1) The fuel tank is leaking. Where can I find a safer fuel tank that will fit?
2) Where can I get a new dash? The vinyl wood grain is peeling bad on this one.
3) The pedals on the car are so close together that every time I hit the brakes, I also hit the gas. How can I fix this?
4) The car has a torino 9" rear end with drum brakes. Who sales a kit to put rear disk brakes with an emergency brake on this car like the front brakes? The front brakes are from a Stage 2 Mustang.
5) Who sales a some nice carpet for the interior and trunk?
6) The door pockets are coming a loose. How do you fellows fix yours?
7) Who has the best wiring kit for the whole car?
8) What is the best high back leather seats for the this car? There is nothing wrong with the seats except they are not a comfortable as I would like and they are vinyl.
9) What are the best windshield wipers motors to use? New Cobra badges? The cool looking chrome front facing shifter? A roll bar? How about an A/C, heater and defrosting unit?
10) Doesn't someone make a folding convertible top with side windows.
11) What about heat shields for the side pipes? I have small kids and do not want to get them burned.
12) Who sells a turkey pan? And those cool Cobra double fans? Some mesh wire to protect the raditor. A overflow jug?
13) Who sells some brighter head lights? You can hardly see these on.
Sorry for so many questions guys. But, I need someone to lead me on the right track to Cobra enjoyment. Please answer any questions you can.
Thanks,
Ryan

New Owner: Try the folks at Finishline, Inc., for all your needs. They have an online catalog and can get you one in the mail as well.
Distance between pedals is always a problem in these cars. Did you try to bend the clutch and the brake pedal arms to the left a bit. remember to wear the narrowest shoe you can get.
Painless and American Auto wire have wiring harness kits you can use, all the wires are color coded and identified.
Good luck.

Hi Ryan,
We actually carry most of the parts you are looking for. Things like carpet and door panels are pretty specific to our car while companies such as Finish Line can help you out with other items such as emblems and shifters.
Give me a call at 1-888-246-0900 or check out our web site.

Ryan,
I have a Shell Valley kit and have the original wiper assembly
that came with the car, new, still in the box. I will take $150.00 plus shipping if you are interested.
Thanks.

Hello Ryan looks like you are in for some fun
1) Take the fuel tank to a radiator shop have the boil it and fix nothing wrong with a metal tank there in a 150K cars now.
2)I would take the dash to a upholstery shop and recover it.
3)On the pedals find a good welder and heat the clutch and put a small S in it.
4) The rear end call Ford and get the Ford Explorer rear disk brake Kit the handle and cables from Finishline or check with Jegs or Summit.
5) See your local upholstery shop.
6)See #5
7) I like Painless belive they can make one for your Cobra.
8) I put Subie in my and like them.
9) Call JL1942 on wiper badges shifter roll bar see finishline the motor will keep you hot if you don't insulate don't need no AC only defrost unit if DMV says so.
10) See Dana at SV.
11) finish line
12) See #11
13) See # 11
When all else fails Call Dana at SV and give him you Card number and wait for the Big Brown Truck

Ryan,
I hope you are not too disappointed with your purchase. Most of us understand the nature of these cars is that they are never "finished". They are all a "work-in-progress".
I have spent 17 years "improving" my car, that I spent 6 years building. At any time, I always have 4 or more projects planned to do when time allows. You just have to prioritize them and handle them as time and money allow. To me, this is part of the fun of owning a Cobra.
Your comments about A/C and a top indicate that you expect the car to be comfortable or something. The Cobra is not about comfort, it's about in-your-face excitement. It will never be a "nice street car". It is an overpowered, "beast" of a car that will test your driving (and sometimes mechanical) abilities every time you get into it.

Thanks everyone for your responses so far. I think I have e-mailed everyone who e-mailed me back. If I have left anyone out, please accept my apologize and e-mail me back.
I welcome more response to anyone who wants to help a fellow Cobra owner. Also if anyone else has anything for sale that will work on my Shell Valley car, please e-mail me.
Thanks again,

Good to see you finally landed a Cobra!
I second what Paul said. The car takes a bit of getting used to. It was a bit of a "culture shock" going from my well-mannered, easy to drive but fast 400hp MR2 to the "beast" that is the Cobra. It's not civil, it's crude and rude, it's raw power at its best. It doesn't elicit controlled excitement, it demands a visceral response.
You'll love it!
Good luck!
R.
