Unhappy Setting the market value(s)???

So here I sit wondering to myself as to what price I would ask for the FFR prototype Spyder (and the 20 foot enclosed car trailer, 65 Mustang Convertible(easy one at 16K), even the 86 V8 SVO Road Racer) to raise capital for a new business venture I am planning to undertake some time in the next few months. Tough to be the "trend setter" for such a unique automobile as the Spyder, same goes for the SVO road racer, seeing that their are no "comps" for either or........ Perhaps know of someone who would want to own a vehicle such as those I may(MAY) soon be parting with????? Guess I'm just thinking (rambling) out loud this evening (no, no coffee consumed at all today), not exactly sure what I'm going to do just yet, guess I'm just looking for some sound (serious) advice for the moment......

Sincerely,

Bill S. & Family

Bill: There is always the tried-and-true method of putting something up for sale at a HIGH price; if someone bites, then good for you.

It seems that you have the luxury of time (or at least a few months.)

In the matter of the SVO V8 racer, surely there is SOMETHING comparable to set a price comparison to. If there is a vehicle with a lesser vehicle selling for, say, $10K, but your motor is better by $2K, and your interior is better by $1k, the the ballpark figure is about $13K.

As for the FFR spyder I imagine it would carry a small premuim over a built FFR Cobra roadster.

Selling price is usually determined by whatever the buyer is ready to pay. Good Luck!!

Seems like all the advice I have seen on selling cars is to put it on ebay and what it gets is what it gets....The spyder was a ffr dud anyway...hope you didn't have much in it

Gotta agree with AL, hope you didn't have a lot in that Corvette C-3 replica, they go for about $7k in these parts.

FFR Spyder is not such a bad car. Not sure how well it is selling so can not comment on if it was a bust or not.

I just saw the spyder at a local car show. Didn't like the color, but otherwise it was a good looking car. In person it does not remind me of the C-3 Corvette.

How much? Bill you just purchased the car so that would be a number to start with. If you are looking to sell for much more than that due to its "prototype" status good luck to you. It is not a Ferrari, Lambo or even a Ford prototype. Additional buck for that I believe will be limited. There is always that one particular buyer though.

SVO racer? Might as well drop the SVO part and base price off of other modified mustangs of same time period.

Bill,
Definitely not an easy situation. The Spider, regardless of opinion on it, is not a very common car. Few people outside the "community" have any clue what it is. So it could be a really tough sell. I'd suggest starting the price at slightly more than what you paid, as you put some work into it, and go from there. Bring it around to high profile events and see what nibbles you get. I'll help you sell it around here if you want.

Personally, I think you should hang on the the SVO, if at all possible. I know you love open track. Yes, you have to do what you have to do to put food on the table. But if you sell the car, then you're totally back to square one for a dedicated track car. I think I'd sell that one last. Wish I could afford it....

The Mustang should be an easy sell. Large market, well determined prices already.

Steve

Guys,

The Spyder will be the last car to go. Appreciate the serious comments from some of you. Guess we know who my true friends are when I'm feeling a bit down.....

Steve R.

Not really, just had a moment that I felt the financial walls closing in, nothing more than that......

Bill,
I feel your pain. I had to pass on the "Kirkham In A Box" deal.
Good luck with your project.

Steve,

I had to pass as well, even after my wife said "sure, why not, as long as we can afford to do it"......Just not enough funds to both open the new business, and play with all of the toys...Guess for now, I'll hang on to the Spyder...In fact, I think I'll go for a ride right now in it ...........

Later,

Bill S.

Bill,
Why don't you contact DV and raffle your vehicles similar to DV's car at the upcoming Spring Fling? There would be plenty of exposure and you could use the difference between your set value and what you receive as a charitable contribution deduction.
