Boo Hoo Hoo, poor "little" oil companys. With all the mergers, how many are left, 5? NO COMPETITION! This happened once before, some company called Standard Oil(ever hear of Rockerfellor?), it's called MONOPOLY, only game in town.Soon (I'm guessing$3.00 bucks a gallon) the economy will start to crumble.Hope you'all didn't buy new pickups and suvs recently.

Just heard on the news last night that we can expect another .20 cent per gallon raise up here soon. Also saw that a lot of SUVS and motor homes are being parked so maybe this isn't such a bad thing after all. Gas was $3.35 on up the freeway a few miles last week but I heard they cut it back some.

You can look in my garage and see I am doing my part: One Ford Excursion with a V10, Cobra with dual quads, Galaxie with a dual quad 521 under construction, and the thrifty one, a Ford Supercrew truck. (At least the V10 runs on Regular!)

I think we should do this. This was a email I just recieved. I know it's not possible to get everyone to do this, but wouldn't it be great if it was enough to make an impact on them.

Remember, even with the tax, gasoline is still cheaper than bottled water or soda! How can that be? Do they drill 2 miles down to get Pepsi?

Allen,
I recieved that e-mail also. Problem is, even if everyone did that, they would all go out the day before and fill every tank they have. So what would it actually accomplish if the oil companies sold 50 gallons today and none tomorrow for example or 25 gallons today and 25 gallons tomorrow.
Bob,
Soda and bottled water are FDA approved. Gas isn't. After spending several million the Govt. determined that drinking gasoline was bad for unborn babies.

Ron,
I agree. Boycotting gas purchases for a day only postpones it.
I always liked the other idea of boycotting ONE gas company. We'd still buy the gas we need, just not from...pick a company. When Exxon-Mobil's gas sales are $0 for a few days, I think something would change.
Getting enough people to actually do it is the problem.

Gas is cheaper in GA than Fla (tax). Still see it for $1.75/gal outside the "city." It's expected to go over $3.00/gal this summer. Not much anyone can do about it, most producers are at capacity and the Saudi's got dissed by OPEC last meeting.
Best thing to do is ride your bike, combine all your errands into one, or stay home (unless you own a horse).
And, buy stock in EXXON, then you can afford it.

Here is something to chew on: For every $1.00 increase in the price of a barrel of oil, it takes 6, count 'em, $6 BILLION of discretionary income out of the pockets of the U.S. consumer.
I like the Richard Hudgins anaylsis. Given that scenario, I am surpised old Arnold hasn't put a sales tax on real estate sales in 'ole California. No more deificts, for sure.

Did gas prises double in the rest of the world also? How much of the price of gas is the cost of crude? If gas went from $1.35/per and are now is $2.15 ? When will they start making americans rich selling american crude? Are they all ready paying oil reserves or well owners for not pumping? If bush can make a difference at election time then he could have made a difference now. When this is all over who will sue who?OPEC is doing what the terrorist
couldn't change the american life style. With the prospect of $4.00 gas getting my car back on the road is less important and I don't think I'll be going hunting this fall .

How about a national car pool day? It just fries me that gas is something that we rely on for so much that it effects the cost of nearly everything. The economy is already messed up now let's start the domino effect.

I am currently NOT buying Mobil/Exxon products. Problem is;
1. There are more people buying gas from whoever than you can cover with this operation.
2. It's not like you know who supplies the gas to some of the less expensive stations.
3. To make an impact, there has to be public knowledge. If only a handful of people know about it, it will not get impact.
It's my opinion.
