An Iexpensive End to the Galling Problem

With pindrive wheels there is a valid concern regarding the metal transfer (galling) between the knockoff and the wheel itself, this is nothing new and much bandwidth has been exhausted cussing and discussing this unfortunate circumstance faced by those with this type of fitament. I have given some thought to and spoken to some individuals and would like to throw this out for your feedback. How many of you that have these wheels be interested in a thin reusable cone shaped metal washer that would be sandwiched between the Aluminum knockoff and the wheel that would eliminate the galling issue.

I might be interested, hope you are driving your car now. Do you think using the Stainless knockoffs would produce the same effect, by not using aluminum k.o., and avoiding similar metals?

That thought has been tossed around here of making a thin about 1mm thick washer, all thats required is the tool making, so it can be pressed into shape!

Down side may be as far as wheels coming loose, this could promote that situation, with an extra part?

I am thinking along the lines of Stainless spinners but they are heavy.

What if you made it out of spring steel with a slight curve. Like a "wave" washer. The spring tension preload would help keep the wheel on.
