Default Goodbye Dad

It is with the utmost sadness that I write to tell you of the loss of a family member - my father, and fellow CC member Ron Daveley.

Some of you may have known him - he ran SilverFoxCobra.com, sold Cobra calendars every year, and was owner of SPF694. He suffered a massive heart attack yesterday, and was taken away from us at the age of only 63.

I'm glad that Dad got to retire early, and enjoy his retirement by fulfilling a life long dream 4 years ago, when he purchased his first cobra. I know how much fun he had, not only driving the car, but becoming part of a larger family of great cobra enthusiasts, through meets, the CC and SCOF forums, and by publishing his calendar.

I will always treasure the memory of spending an entire day with Dad a couple years ago, driving his cobra around SW Florida, shooting pictures, talking to people, and just hanging out together. We're going to miss him a lot.

Thanks to Club Cobra, and the cobra community at large, for bringing such great joy to him in the last few years.

I'm so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. When I was shopping for a car, we emailed back and forth and he encouraged me to purchase my SPF. I've enjoyed his calendars very much but never quite got a photo I thought was worthy.

Ron's enthusiasm for Cobras and Superformance cars was always evident from his calendars and his emails. Although we never met in person, I'll miss him.

Unhappy I'm so sorry...........

to hear of your father's passing. Although words do not erase the pain, please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
When I ordered my first calendar from your father, I noticed the address was just down the street from where I lived as a young man for 4 years. I called your father and we talked about the neighborhood and other things we had in common. Without our joint passion for Cobra's we would never of had that conversation.

I am terribly disturbed to hear this news. Your Dad used to come up to western Wiscconsin to "tour" the area and I would let him park his trailer at my home while he and your mom would venture out into the back roads of rural Wisconsin.

I remember very distinctly of their arriving late on Friday night. Your Dad would get reservations in La Crosse but didn't want to let the Cobra stay unattended in the parking lot. He would drive the trailer up to my house and we would park the car and trailer on my side yard, in full protective custody, as it were. I would give him the keys to my Durango, so as not to have to fiddle with unhitching the trailer to drive back to La Crosse in his older pick up. The next morning they would be back at the house and off they would go. They would return on Sunday, pack up the Cobra and head for home.

Last year I saw him at the SPF tent at Elkhart. I was with Bob Evans and Phil Remington. I made a point to introduce your Dad to Phil and your Dad had a nice conversation with him. SPF had a car on a lift, where potential prospects could look at the underside of the car. I remember you Dad asking Phil his opinion of the frame and suspension on the SPF.

My condolesences to your family. Ron was a real nice guy and really enjoyed touring in his car. He will be missed by this group.

I am terribly sorry to hear about your loss. With the recent passing of a couple of 'cobra' dads it make me think a great deal about my father. I will be with him at the end of the month for his 60th birthday and again at the Fling next month. I intend to make ever moment count from here on out.

Best wishes to you and your family

Rick

Default I am so sorry for your/our loss!

Rawcobra,
I am so sorry to hear of Ron's passing! Like others above, I never had the pleasure of a face-to-face meeting, but I felt like we had become friends through the past four years, three through the calendar. As you know, he was a fine man with many friends, and I can assure you he will be sorely missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Very sorry to hear about your families loss. It’s great to hear that he found a way to fully realize his dream of owning a Cobra. It further validates the rationale that we must find ways to what makes us truly happy…You just never know. Take care man, and hang in there!

Post VERY SORRY

YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. I LOST MY DAD LAST WEEK AND I KNOW THE PAIN THAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING NOW AND WILL CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE FOR THE COMING DAYS.

THE ONLY THING THAT I CAN SHARE WITH YOU IS THAT HE IS IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE NOW AND THERE IS NO MORE PAIN AND ILLNESS.

THE PAIN YOU NOW FEEL WILL LEAVE YOU, BUT YOUR DAD NEVER WILL. THE MEMORIES WILL KEEP HIM WITH YOU.

REMEMBER THAT HE WAS NEVER YOURS. GOD ONLY LENT HIM TO YOU FOR A WHILE.

Post I will miss him too

Ron was a good man and a great "Cobra friend." We've "talked" on line many times, mostly about those beautiful Cobra calendars he made. I will miss him too, and send my sincere condolences to you and your mom. I know that no words will be enough to soften your loss; so please know that you, his family, are in my prayers. Peace be with you.

Wow, so sorry to hear of this loss and I remember your dad well from my days on the SPF Forum and how much effort he put into the calenders. My condolences to you, your family, and the SPF family on SCOF.

Default We're gonna miss ya buddy...

Ron was indeed the ultimate Cobra fan from back when they were first introduced to the public to owning his own two Superformance's. Only Indy racing matched his passion for the Cobra and everything associated with it.

The only thing he loved more than that car, were his wife and partner in life Jackie and his wonderful kids, Scott and Lynne and of course his grandkids, Libby and Katherine.

Rest easy pal. We're gonna miss your Dad, Scott, he had a lot of friends.
