Nice one Itstock- good to see you young'uns have good taste. 1109 looks great!
I am 48 and have BDR 1091 being finished by Vintage at the moment - should get it next week too.

Let's see Scott started this thread in February of 1999 and was 40 at the time. He is now 53. I was 52 then and am 65 now. I wonder how that "average age" data will work out in the end for this thread? Youngest, oldest, owned longest. This thread has been around a long time and the subject has even spawned a few other like threads over the years. I wonder how many that first answered this still have their Cobra? What is the average length of time of ownership?
I still have mine. The car is 32 years old and I have owned it for 8 years.

I was 23 when I got mine in 1968. So I have had it for 54 years. Talked my dad into cosigning on the loan as I was graduating from college. I kept telling him it was going to be worth a lot more in the future. I was thinking 10 grand. It took a week to convince him. I really didn't care if it went up in value I just wanted the car. With my college loan and the payments on the car I had very little extra cash for the next 2 years. Right after I got it there were times I couldn't afford to drive it except to work. You know gas was expensive at 36 cents per gallon.

First Cobra
I wanted a Cobra since I sold my '66 Tiger on July 20 1970. That day I jamed the traction bars through the frame at Cayuga Dragway. I ordered my Cobra from BRM in 2007. I was third in line to have one built for me. The Cobra will be dilivered this June 2012. It has been a long wait, but not that long considering they are hand built, from the rubber meets the road to the sun shinning of the top. The unit is built and designed by Bret Ward of Boss Replica Motors. I am not concerned with the length of time of the build. You can not rush perfection. Nor would it be in my best interest to push the builder. Besides having is not as much fun as desiring the unit in the first place.

Scott
I just turned 60 early this month. I took four years building my dream car and plan on being at the LCS this year. Used to have a old Trans Am that I restored and sold it. I was trying to make up my mind on what to build next. After being married for 36 years my wife totally shocked me by saying she would like a Cobra race car. She didn't have to say it twice.

53 years old. My slot car set when I was 10 had a Cobra and a Cheetah car. Sparked the interest. Discovered the replicar industry in 1998 while my son was in high school. We brought home a beautiful Unique last night. Dream come true. He had to drive me all around though. Still recovereing from broken hip and pelvis. Motorcycles are GONE. He kept saying on the way home, "Everybody has a Harley, not everyone has a Cobra!"

I started building my car at age 59 and finished the following year. I'm currently 68 but my average age is 34.4 .

I'm 13 years older than when this thread was started. I can't remember if I responded to it previously - probably have but I'm 61-1/2 now, and although physically fit I can't help wondering if I will be able to get into the thing by the time I have it running.

I am surprised by the age profile here, as i thought most would be in the late 30s-50s. Im mindful to try a poll in the UK and see what happens.

Come on, Dan - you're almost there...and driving it will make you young again!
I'm 58 and hoping to have my car by the end of the month. Will take me a while to get it on the road, but that's ok.
Regards,
Kevin

Kevin, I am getting closer - should be able to fire up the motor in a month or so. I was also 58 when I took delivery of mine. It is kind of like a physical fitness program. Getting up and down off of a creeper or the floor 30 or 40 times some days has to be good for something.
