49 and feelin'every year.
I started doing bodywork at 15 and developed a love of cars. I saw my first cobra at around 14-15 and knew I would someday own one. After a failed business, 4 kids, huge back problems and 12 years of hard work, I have a really great start on the good life!!My cobra, mustang, bikes etc and the pub...I'm set!!

As for me, I am on the Jr. side. I am 30 years old and have been into cars my entire life. I grew up in a car family and can recall some of my first memories at car show and runs. I bought my first car at age 12 and had bought and sold over 20 cars by the time I graduated from highschool. I have had lots of good memories in all the classics, muscle cars, and street rods. However, nothing compares to starting up my Cobra and taking it out to stretch its legs. I love the exhaust note at 6000 R.P.M.

You can tell who the really old guys are cuz their short-term memories are shot and they post at least once on each page! Those that post twice or more, are no danger since they can't remember where they put their keys either!!

I'm 41 (err, will be 42 next week: 3/4) and have always wanted to build/restore a car. On my way to a flying contest, I passed a flatbed that was transporting a nicely finished Cobra (in PA.) I think I followed it for 15 miles before he turned off. When I passed him, he just smiled clearly undertanding what I must have been thinking/feeling. Later, I happened upon a car club meet that was held at a shopping mall parking lot. I saw it again. Another Cobra. Thinking this wa a sign, I started researching them and have decided on the FFR.

Last year wasn't a great year for me. So, I ended up building my own 17' sea kayak (www.mindspring.com/~mdspicer) as funds were very limited. My neighbors thought I was crazy, many would visit just to see its progress. I can only wonder what will be going through their minds this time!

For me, it's not a mid-life crisis. I love cars (dream car is a Ferrari 456 or 360) and love driving. "Have gas, will go!" is my motto (one of many). I am divorced raising two teens. My girlfriend is not jazzed about my new project. But there's hope. She built a kayak too. Otherwise, I'll just have to stay single for a while longer <G>.

I just bought the donor ('88 GT 5.0 5-speed, with MAC) and I plan to gut it and do the engine work this spring/summer. I plan to purchase the kit later this year.

It's only a matter of time!

I just turned 18 and i have a love for cobras and ive had it since 5 yrs old and i still love them just as much and i plan to get one by the time that i'm 30.

I'm 58 and purchased my cobra when I was 23. I was able to convince my Dad to cosign on a loan when I graduated from college. It took me a week but I finally convinced him it would be worth some real money some day (I was thinking $10,000). The payments on the car and my college loan meant I didn't have any spare cash for the first two years out of college. I got the car about a week before I graduated and started work. I couldn't even afford gas so I drove it only to work until I got my first paycheck. I used it as my daily driver for the first 4 years. When I got married we used it for our honeymoon transportation and put on 1,400 miles.

Before we were married my future bride would help clean car parts. That stopped once we were married. The car we were working on was usually my first car, a 52 Chevy hardtop with a 301 Chevy V8. I was constantly breaking it at the drags. The Chevy was purchased with paper route money. Although my wife no longer cleans car parts she has been great at putting up with my love of cars. I still have the Chevy along with the Cobra and two other toys.

We moved a lot and when the realtors asked me what I was looking for I always said a garage with a view and a house attached. I'm now retired and have my garage with a view.

My affliction started at 12 or 13...somewhere in that area!!
Finally got mine 1.5 years age, I'm 49. Long time to wait.

52.94 - soon to be 53. Cobra ownership is not a part of my second childhood - I prefer to think that I never left my first.

i just started on my cobra kit last wekk i purchased the kit for 12k and have just stole parts and money on the way. scammin peeps work great nah just kidding however i been saving up for 3 years and have worked two jobs for 2 years andihave 3k left to spend for now however im 60% dont ok well dont scam or steal i was kidddin howeveri hvae recieved many helps and tips from car enthsiasts like yourselves and i preciate it all guys thanks later

I have read some of your other posts about getting a Cobra. I am glad to hear you where able to buy a kit. Good luck with the build and better yet, trying to get it insured!

Word of advice. Take a look at the ages in this thread. If you want anyone here to give you the time of day then you had better learn to spell and punctuate. Drop the teen slange as well. Half the people here probably do not understand what your user name means.

I always wanted to build a car. I helped my dad work on cars in his garage when I was a kid and we built a go cart together. From that time I always dreamed of building a very fast car.

I loved the shape of Ferraris (esp. the 250 GTO) and built Ferrari slot cars to race when I was a teenager. It was at a slot car track in Pasadena, Texas that I saw my first Cobra in 1965.

I started building my Arntz at age 34 and "finished" it at age 40. Of course, they're never finished, are they?

31. At 9 days old, I was brought home from the hospital in Dad's '68 GT-500. Been a Shelby freak ever since. 427 S/C has always been my dream car. Can't afford an original, so going with a clone/replica.

These forums have been a great source of information and met lots of nice people.
