Hey Cody, this is the absolute max Cobra forum, but if you are also into Mustangs (like UT) try this site, the Oklahoma Deadhorse Mustangs.

Mostly young, foul-mouthed street racers, but I love them all and they drive some 'way cool 'Stangs.

Did I mrntion that they are foul-mouthed?

I'm the oldest Deadhorse.

An x-street racer from the 60's I have had the bug for another fast ride. I owned a 68 CJ Mustang that terrorized Sheridan Drive in Buffalo NY. Fond memories of all those racers at Pat's Hot Dog stand. The Cobra was always a dream car for me and I am in a position now to get one. Approaching 59 years old gives me 59 reasons to have one. My first experience with one was at Frontier Ford in the mid-60's. What a car. Great country .... this America.

Back in 66 my friend traded in his 63 split window Vett and about $3000 for a 66 289 original roadster. This cobra made about 315 HP, but it went like hell!We had some fun in that car racing the hot rods of the day. This cobra sat in my garage during the winters for serval years until my friend got married. Then one day he told me he sold the cobra without ever telling me he was going to sell it! He sold it for $5800 as he need the money to start building a new home. Needless to say I was disappointed, but I never say a word to him. Then last summer I was sitting in the dentist office waiting for the dentist and I pick up the local news paper and turned to the auto section. I would always look at the customer or hotrod section. And there it was 1965 Cobra replica for sale and it was just a few miles up the road. Living in the suburbs of Chicago all the cobra for sale seen to be accross the country, but this one was right here!! I wanted a cobra for the last 40 years, so later that day my wife and went to see the cobra. It was love at first sight. After some discussion of price we quickly agreed and now it mine. Yes you do get bitten bad after you really have one. I love it!! Oh, as for my age I' 63 soon to turn 64 but I figure I can enjoy this to at least 80. Go get one and enjoy it.

When I first replied to this thread, I had just retired at 54.5 years young.

I have now regressed to almost 59 (in 3 months) years young. Wish I had the money to buy a Cobra in the 60's when I was in high school ....

although I'd probably be dead now for a few decades

Warren - congratulations on your continuing birthdays. I am glad you can't see through me on a daily basis. I am now 55. Can't retire - most of the kids still in school. I am busting out and spending $ on a toy or two before various institutions abscond with all of the funds.

I'm 47 and have been involved in mustangs since I was 16. I bought my first cobra several years ago, sold it after divorce and recently bought my second.

I have wanted a Cobra since my first ride in one in 1965. I started looking at replicas over 15 years ago and finally purcased my ERA #002 in 2005. I will be 60 in October of this year and be retiring. My plan is to pull my Cobra in a Serpent Express trailer behind my motor home and visit all the famous race tracks across the USA. I want to "open track" with my car on as many of them as possible. Also want attend as many of the fun Cobra events as possible as we travel. Plan to visit the ERA "factory" while passing through the NE part of this fine Country. As you can see I plan on taking it easy in my retirement

Bought my BDR261...9/05 turnkey from Reg. Before that I helped 2 friends build their FFR's...after @1million pop rivets I decided to go the turnkey route!1 friend is 20, the other is 37....I'm 53 and if this is a mid life crisis they must last a long time...At least this crisis has 500HP!

i havent read the whole thread but im probably one of the youngest guys here at 19, i bought my car with my dad, but its really my baby because he's not nearly as into it as i am

Hey all,
I'm new to Club Cobra, and joined after putting in my order for a Shell Valley kit. I've had older American cars, (Trans-Ams, 69 Eldorado, 73 Monte Carlo, 65 GTO, Impala's, etc.) and went the route of pocket rockets for a while, (VW GTi's, Porches, etc). For the last 7 or 8 years I've been customizing and riding a couple of Harleys.

But ever since I was young enough to remember, I was intrigued by Shelby Cobras.

I sold my 65 GTO, sold my most recent Harley Road King and put my deposit on a Shell Valley CT-427 Roadster last week. Dana and all of the folks at Shell Valley have been very helpful, and it was great meeting them at LCS.

I also turned 39 last week, and I don't think wanting a Cobra is a mid life thing. For me: I'm divorced, no kids, good income and home, and have wanted one for years. For most people it's not a snap decision, but cobra can have a cumulative effect.

I'm turning 39 Aug. 8th, Ford guy, Parents had a 70 Grand Torino W/ a 289 when I was a kid. I had a new 96 Mustang GT convert. Done riding the Pony!
Ready to slay the snake.Can't afford a continuation, Well I can afford it, Just won't allow myself to. Going to OVERHAUL my dreams and pimp my ride,, FFR style!

I used to be 39. A long, long time ago - on a planet far, far away.

I'm 71 now - on the outside - but still 25 on the inside.

I was only 65, or so, when this post was first started.

I'm still waiting for someone to calculate the "average" age.

39 for another 5 months or so. Like everybody else.

My wife is convinced I'm a teenager trapped in an old man's body. That may be. But boy, I'd love to be a teen knowing what I know now. Couldn't take going back to school, however.

I'm 44, starting building the car when I was 34

Got about 85% done in the first 9 months but we started a similtaneous project around the same time. Our daughter is now 8 1/2. Of course I've had other car diversions and pacifiers (like the 2 wheeled version of the Cobra, the Yamaha V-max) over the years, and I'm mainly a MoPar guy and I still play with them some too. Sure, I would have loved to finish the car much sooner but I really don't have any regrets...let's just say I'm making up for lost time on every sunny afternoon!

Ever since that movie I have wanted a Cobra. I was probably about 10 when I saw that movie for the first time. Now I am 35 and have been researching Cobras for about 3 years. Interesting reading all the early threads. Somewhat like looking back at an old high school yearbook. I am now 41 and life has changed tremendously since this post. Wife, kids, relocations, house and yes...finally my very own Cobra. Not built, as I had wanted to do, but when the wife says buy one.....it is always best to act quickly to the one who "must be obeyed".

Learned a lot about the people and have met some funny, knowledgeable, friendly people. Do you think it is wrong to start the car up at 11:30 at night? That is what I would like to do.

I don't know about 11:30 at night but I have taken mine out at 4 AM. Ease up the streetand then rev it up once to listen to all the car alarms as I drove off on the freeway. And I am now 65, soon to be 66. So I can claim temporary insanity if they complain.
