Cobra slot cars
I just purchased a 1/32 slot car set for my son (me?). It is the Carrera brand. Carrera does not appear to produce a Cobra. Any suggestions on who does? I do not plan to race it outside our home (I've said the same thing about my SPF). Whatever car I purchase must be blue, preferably with white stripes to match mine.
Any thoughts on the Carrera brand versus others (scalextrix)?
Thanks - Tom

well, there are several slot car manufacturers. My scale is closer to Hot wheels size; 1/64. Do a search under "slot cars" on yahoo, google, etc., and tons will come up. I've gotten some "vintage" johnny lightning cars, GTO's, Cobras. quite fun. Ebay has some occasionally, but they are much more fun to hunt down at flea market type places. In my gallery somewhere is a pic of my girls playing with our set. It is the cobra vs. the goat!!
I'll try to post more info. later. There is quite a market out there, and I would also look at "collectible toys and trains" type places. Toys r us has the tracks, but none of the extra cars. I Bought a standard track at T R Us, but the cars are too fast- nascar type stock cars. the old ones are much more fun! Most of the companies make 1/32. Can't think of any right off the top, except Scaletrix.... Do a search, tho!!!

I hold in my hand a 427 style Cobra 1/32 scale slot car. Blue with White stripe of course. It is made in Spain and very little information is given on the packaging. This car was purchased in a hobby shop in the Los Angeles area sometime in 2002. It is made by REPROTEC. The UPC label reads; Ref:RT/1962, Shelby Factory SC 64, and the code is - 8436006509629. Good luck!

I just bought a MRRC Cobra and I think NINCO makes one. Both are 427 Cobra in 1/32 scale. MRRC is marketed by Scalextric.

Monagram has been revived and includes Cobra Daytona Coupes in their 1/32 slot cars line. As mentioned, Ninco, Reprotec, and MRRC have Cobras in their lineups. The Reprotecs may be tough to find. It was a few years ago when they were out, and not many vendors sold them. MRRC has the most available currently...Some special commemorative editions are almost too nice to run.
Carrera makes a nice '66 Shelby available in several colors. Scalextric makes nice Trans-am as raced and street version Boss 302 Mustangs.
I think several companies make GT 40s as well
Keep in mind you need two cars of the same brand for FAIR match racing on your track. The motor and magnets used by each manufacturer can make a big difference.
I've purchased examples of all the brands mentioned, plus vintage Revell and Scalextric Cobras off eBay. Most stay in their boxes.
Do a search for slot cars on Google. I have ordered from several of the big slot car stores that you'll see, with no problems. I even ordered some Reprotec Cobras from England...they were easier to find across the pond. Have fun racing or collecting.

Reviving an old thread but it has to do with slot cars. Has any one had any experience with the scx digital slot cars or any of the new digital slot car sets. I want to get me one more toy before I retire and I found these digital ones but can't find any unbias information on them. They are a bit spendy so I would like to get as much insight on them as possible.
Thanks
Fred
