I've stayed out of this one until now for reverence of a very sick man.
But, gotta say that it is funny how Jamo doesn't blink when the off-topic subject is a CSX Daytona, but Scooter is reprimanded not to talk about money at all... no, no, no... Why, Jamo, is one off-topic subject forbidden and another is not.
I can tell you that when I saw the Daytona being discussed in multiple posts, I was astounded at the callousness, and I thought "Guys... Lets show some decency and dignity here... I really doubt that Dwayne cares about the daytona..."
BTW, Dwayne... Please be in peace. God Bless You.

***UP DATE***
The Doctors at Mayo have begun a treatment (Chemo) for Dwayne. They are going to do Two Months and then see if it is killing the cancer. At that point they will decide what is the best course of action.
We are trying to determine what course of action will give Dwayne the best quality of life, for the short time he has.
They talked about just sending him home with narcotics til the end. However he would be so "Out of It" that he would not be able to do anything.
The other course is the treatment. However, if he is just going to be SICK the whole time he may stop the treatment and go home till the end.
The engine that Kroyer built is a High Performance Race Engine. Basically Dwayne's car is a race car in less the SCCA roll bar. The engine and the brakes are both being built to race as was the chassis. That is why it was suppose to have a 42 gallon Feul Cell and Halon Fire Suppression System. The car is also comming with 2 sets of tires and rims. One for the track and one for the street. The original idea was that we were going to bring the car to our Viper Days, Viper Racing League and /or the The Michelin Challenge Series and run the car. However, the car never got finished and the whole season ended in October. Now he is too sick to compete.
I have bought Dwayne a couple die cast cars. For his 57th birthday last month I got him a 1:18 scale Frankilin Mint 427 Cobra (Red). Before he left for the Mayo Clinic I had him open his Chrtistmas present. Which is a CS autographed Daytona Coupe 1:18 scale (blue & wht). I have seen on line silver 1:18 scale Cobras but have never been able to buy (Auction ended). If anyone know of one I would very much like to purchase and send it to him. It would be nice for him to have in his room while at Mayo. Kirkhams sent him somthing from Utah this week, I do not know what it is. All I saw was the electronic receipt.
One last thing. I would personally like to thank all of the folks who have posted here, sent cards, gave advice, and helped out. I hope that each one of you has many, mnay days a head of you driving your cars in the sun. I hope that you holidays are full of loved ones and great joy and that the new year brings you all great health and wealth.
Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas!!

I found a 1:18 Silver die-cast on eBay and had it sent to Dwayne.
Tell him it's from his friends at Club Cobra.

And the best to you and all of your family. It's unfortunate that it takes the catharsis of a crisis to open new friendship doors.
Best Wishes for a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.

You're right, I should've commented on the Daytona posts going too far afield. I didn't really notice how many posts dealt with it, I guess because folks weren't really arguing about it.
I was more concerned about the obvious impact a growing discussion of relative values would have based on past threads in the past on the subject. Nobody seems to argue about Daytonas much.
In any event, you're right and I would hope folks who want to talk about Daytonas will do so on another thread.
Many thanks.

I surely do hope that Dwayne realizes his dream.
However, I am concerned about putting him in a 500-600hp monster and just turning him loose.
I've driven all manner of racecars for over 30 years now. When I first get in one in the spring after having a winter off, I have always felt a little tentative and have had to bring myself up to speed with the car in steps. Typically I am bedding in new brakes or breaking in a new engine, or breaking in a new car - so this has not been an issue for me.
What I am getting at is this - Danny - before you buckle Dwayne up in this car and send him on his way - make sure YOU do a couple of shake-down runs with it and bed in those brakes and then give Dwayne a series of 6-10ths, 7-10's through 9-10th's rides - just to make sure he is okay with it.
I have seen a bunch of guys crash over the years because of real things like tunnel-vision and vertigo.
My advice is - Let's not let Dwayne hurt himself or others with this car.
Break him into it gently and make sure he is okay with it..
God Bless you Dwayne & Danny..

Oh for heaven's sake.............................pardon me for being presumptuous, but haven't we heard enough opinions about what's best for Dwayne, or what he should or should not have done?
You could make a reasonable argument that none of us should be allowed on the road in a Cobra. And motorcycles should be illegal too.

It's not you Bigfoot, you sound like a reasonable guy, but I'm not the only one who has lost patience with all the advice regarding what's best for Dwayne.

Just a matter of everyone wanting to get their voice heard making some sort of suggestion, Clay...
I just hope Dwayne gets whatever the hell he wants...soon...and gets to enjoy it before retiring to a more peaceful place.
I'm sure he'd be flattered to see 32 pages devoted to this. I'm sure he'd be disappointed to see so much speculation, et cetera.
Let it go, people. How much the car cost. How much the engine cost. How overly powerful it is. Who cares?
In keeping with the spirit of this thread...my suggestion:
I suggest keeping your well wishes flowing and your opinions on the finer details to yourself.

Despite the posts this morning, the cost discussion ended late last night. By commenting on it today. you are giving it more life than it deserves.

Why the bitter sounding post, Jamo?
Thanks for your advice, but I'm speaking on a much bigger level than the cost. It goes a lot further than that.
It's started, stopped, and started enough times, now, I think my post was merited. If people take my final sentence under any kind of advisement, this thread could be a better place.
Please don't make ME into the jerk, here. I think my post could've stood as-is, just fine.
But, in the spirit of doing whatever it takes to placate everyone, I'll refrain from further comment.

I have an extra silver / black model I could part with. If it's not in bad taste tell me where to send it.

It wasn't even directed at you or anyone in particular...hadn't even seen your post (remember, I'm on dialup). Also wasn't intended to be bitter.
Just trying to move folks along.
Thanks.

This is a preemptive (sort of) apology to B.F. Randy.
Randy, I'm just tweaking you a little bit..and I really don't think you're a girl. I'm sure that your advice is sincere and heartfelt.
I have to stop now because I see this post headed in another direction....

This just in from Greg Herbert (aka - RacerHerbie) at the Viper site**
Hi all,
I just got back from visiting with Dwayne and Keena. Dwayne starts his Chemo tomorrow and like any of us he is scared. We talked for a long time and he is a fighter and that's the attitude you need. If there is anyone who can keep him motivated and keep his spirits up it's Keena. She is doing everything she can to get him through this. He is VERY excited about his car. I think at this point it's his motivation to get through all this. I dropped him off a bunch of my car mags and a load of X-Mas cookies so he shouldn't get board of be left too hungry. Keep those cards and letters coming. He is so appreciative of everything everyone is doing for him, I just can't put it into words how much this means to him. He has got so many cards and letters that he hasn't even read them all. The ones he has read he has place on top of the entertainment center...And I saw a ton of them there. Dwayne is about go through the toughest thing he has ever done in his life, so keep Dwayne and Keena in your prayers.
