Motorhead;
As a matter of fact I did read all of the posts....
And to reiterate, ROY HUNT's name is over the door, NOT CS's, at least in my book. And I doubt CS did, does or will do ANYTHING based on this thread or any other. I just got a bit irritated about seeing CS beaten for ROY HUNT's malfeasance. Also note that "CS's camp" did not reply here, but there are NUMEROUS mentions of PRIVATE machinations to move the ball....that being GETTING THE CAR TO DEWAYNE. I just think that this turned into a Shelby Roast when Shelby was a supplier...NOT the end dealer. If you buy a Ford, and it goes wrong, do you gripe out the DEALER or Bill Ford?? I think ROY HUNT is getting off the hook too damned easy because too much smoke is being blown by folks with a prejudice against CS for whatever reason. This is why I chipped in with the question...If you kick CS in the tail when you think he's wrong, why can't you pat him on the back when he does something good? I know it's only a matter of a few inches physically, but the mental effect is much broader!

I couldn't agree more. I just hope that Dwayne is strong enough now to take that drive.
Hogdealer
Just curious about a few things. Have they worked out the logistics of delivering the car yet. Will it be brought to him or will he be brought to it? What is Dwayne's state of mind at this point.
And don't forget, WE WANT PICTURES !!!!!

427sharpe,
Keep in mind that Dwayne went to Shelby to buy the car, and Shelby told him to buy it through Finishline.
So Shelby is not totally innocent in this.
As far as Carroll himself getting roasted, well Carroll doesn't have anything to do with building the cars, or really even much to do with SAI in general. BUT, Carroll is the one man that could get the proper fires lit, to get everything going, as he's the top dog. I think the CS roasting comes more from CS not stepping in sooner. Just my 2 cents.

Almost everyone who goes to Shelby for one of his cars is told to go to one of his dealers. This is not much different than looking up info on Ford and having the website you're visiting escort you to the nearest dealer.
So what if Dwayne went to Shelby facility and took the tour and was told to go see Roy Hunt? What difference does that make? Finish Line took his money, and now Carroll Shelby and Company is doing what they can to get it done, regardless whose name is on the sign.
Robert ,
It is not exactly true that "CS's Camp did not reply here". They did. I personally called Brent on 12/9 and within hours he posted here with their intent to get it done. They have been behind the project since. They DID reply. Not daily.
It may have been the embarresment, the possibility that the car may be finished by one of their competitors, or the public outcry. Whatever it was, we got their attention, and they have been gathering all the parts and making sure the car GETS DONE this time.
Yes they did respond, but not to the satisfaction of everyone.
I honestly believe some in here would rather see the deal fall through in spite of their public sympathy for DWAYNE TO GET HIS CAR.
If you read all the posts, it becomes clear who they are, who really cares what the goal in here is.
To get the car done and delivered to a dying man as his last wish.
or
To see what a piece of work Shelby is.

I've been pretty silent here, because I neither have a dog in this fight, nor anything to add. But, I will humbly offer my perception that it does appear that many seem to be hoping for Shelby to either go under or look like scum.
I would prefer a different outcome. I was happy to hear that Dwayne received a phone call from CS.

Today I feel just a little more Happy and Proud to Own CSX4241. To those "Behind the scenes", CSX2300, TURK, and now Carroll Shelby himself stepping up to the Plate and calling Dwayne personally, My Hat is off and I must say "Thank You"! Next step, Car completion and Dwayne putting it through the paces at SAAC does VEGAS!

I haven't noticed that some seem to be hoping for Shelby to go under or whatever. Now that you mention it, I'm still not sure. I guess it could be in how each of us looks at things differently sometimes.

I am going to Finish Line later today. Will have the progress pics posted tonight or tomorrow morning.
ComputerWorks: Can I just click on Dwayne's gallery and upload pics or do I need to do something special?
Glad to hear people of importance are now involved.

You cannot upload into Dwayne's (actually hogdealer's) Gallery directly.
You can either put them into your Gallery or send them to me and I will upload into hogdealer's.

HELL HAS TRULY FROZEN OVER
Not more than five minutes after I made the post regarding visiting Finish Line today it started to snow. Below is a pic of my house. Damn Pineaplle Express. We have already received 2.5 inches of snow and the streets are icy. I know you guys in the East and North think we West Coast folk are sissy's when it comes to winter weather. It's true, but we do not have the requisite equipment either. Las Vegas is shut down. Finish Line is about 60 miles round trip from the house and I am leary about trying to go today. Are they open on Saturday? If so I will attempt to get there tomorrow. Sorry Danny and Dwayne.

WOW!!
Curt, stay home!! We can look at it another day. Make yourself some hot coco, build a fire, stay warm. I dont' think Finish Line is open on Saturday. Could you go out next week?
I think it was around 1988 when Vegas had a big strom and 600 cars got smashed. L.V. folks do not drive in the snow very well.
Thanks, for the effort.

Curt, it don't look like that in North Las Vegas! It's all wet here, no snow!!
Finishline probably isn't technically opened on Saturday, but there always seems to be somebody there working. I may go over and have a look at the car. Knowing Finishline, I bet it's pretty sweet.

I am going to attempt to go there tomorrow. Kris, if they are not open and I fail to get pics, can you try and go out there next week and take some pics? You can use my camera if you do not have one. I am a consultant and constantly traveling. I currently have plans to be in LA through Thursday of next week. I live in Summerlin up on the West side. We are higher than North LV as you know and are full of snow at the moment.

This was posted on the Viper forum yesterday afternoon by Jospeh Houss, past president of the National Viper Club.
Wow,
I just received a call from "The Man" himself!
That's right, Mr Shelby called ME to convey the REAL story to all interested parties.
He is an absolutely sincere gentleman, and I was amazed (and even thought it was one of my Viper buddies playing a phone trick on me!) that he would take the time to communicate the story to me, and of course, now, to our VCA.
Here's all the facts as they were presented to me:
Mr Shelby has been right on top of this dillemma. Mr Shelby has spoken to Duane directly, and to Roy many times regarding this matter. He has truly gone beyond the call of duty and, without getting into details, has offered options that would have cost him a fortune, just to make things right.
The bottom line is that Mr Shelby has spoken to Duane, and Duane has requested that the car STAY with Roy, and that he wants Roy to complete the delivery.
If, in fact, any of this information is incorrect, please feel free to e-mail me, as I will gladly fax any correspondences to Mr Shelby, as he is, at this point, unaware of Duane being anything other than agreeable to the current circumstances.
Thank You Mr Shelby!
Now that's a man with a big heart!
